My Brain Hurts...In a Good Way

Woooof, I just got home. My first day back to work and it was a challenge. But it was also rewarding as the dickens:D
For those of you who haven't been in the new workforce the world has changed. For one thing it's all computerized training. So you basically spend anywhere from a day to a week learning your job on interactive programs.

But what a hoot!!! The first and second courses would stop halfway and let you play a shooting game for points. Then there was a lesson on store maintenance. There were quizzes after each lesson. This screen showed a pile of garbage bags and for every correct answer a garbage bag flew into the compactor.

But It felt good...your brain needs regular exercise. Great to be able to stretch it and it bounce around a bit. That was one of the things I hated about Home Depot, the boredom...you'd rather put pins through your eyes than have nothing to do for hours on end. And best of all yoga pants are perfectly acceptable.

Congrats Fur, yes- going back to work is a shock to the system if you've been away for a while. I've been back to work just over 1 year now, after having been retired for 3 years. I hate Mondays! I love Fridays!

Good for you fur! I'm glad you finally convinced that company that you were the answer to their prayers! Hope it goes well for you and that you catch on quick.

I'm happy but it's still weird. The store manager is about 28. I am the official dinosaur. But everybody still seems nice. You know what I wish I knew how to do? My son tried to show me a few times. The handshake thing, here everybody does it, all genders. It's like a high five then a handshake and kind of a half hug. Oy that I'll figure it out. At Home Depot it was just full out hugs.

Hugs in the workplace? I'm surprised they could get away with that nowadays. I love hugs, but sure don't want to hug every coworker!

Congratulations on your new job! Good luck at it.

Thank you everybody!!! Yeah the hugs were a surprise at first at the old job. It was usually between women but sometimes with the more mature gentlemen it was okay too. I miss that, I could walk up to workplace friends and say " Miss Anna or Miss Felicia I could really use a hug here"...and yeah it just made your whole day.

Ditto what everyone has said! I bet you feel that a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. I hope your "load" gets much lighter:gettowork:

Thanks for all the kind words folks...and yes Kate, really quite true about the weight. Worrying hard enough about something is physical as much as emotional. I dunno like you have an invisible boulder on your back. Then finally you get some good news and you're instantly lighter.:D:D:eek:nthego:
