My criminal record has been expunged

Believe it or not, I was arrested in IL in 1967. I had just moved to Aurora and had a job as a nurse at St. Luke's Hosp. (I don't think it's still there).

I was driving around the block waiting for someone to get out of an AA meeting to pick him up when a cop pulled me over. He asked me for my DL, insurance and registration because I had a Michigan plate on my car. I was 23 and very naive. He asked me how long I had been in Aurora and I told him a few months. I didn't know there was a time limit to get plates, etc. Anyway, he arrested me and I went to jail!!! My friend that was at the AA meeting came and bailed me out and I had to go to court. I was charged $500!! I've wondered if my "record" is still out there...HAHA.

I was scared to death and didn't live in IL for very long.

That's a hideous thing to have happen --traumatic. And worse, it was all about money. A slur on the state of the union that would do such a thing!
 
My dear mother told me a story. At about age eighteen she'd applied for a waitress job in a diner. The owner said he would give her a trial period without pay for thirty days and, if that worked out, she would have the job.
After thirty days she was told she was not up to par and was rejected.
She was deeply ashamed, told no-one. It took her twenty years to realize that she'd been finangled.
 
Meanwhile: I've had to sit down with an academic panel about my past, where charges were all dismissed over 30 years ago, so that I would be able to attain a teaching certificate. Yet we constantly see school teachers being brought up on child molestation charges here locally. Strange on how my past as a repo man has anything to do with being a High School Teacher compared to these animals molesting children.

You actually were hassled about your past record that was dropped? Bizarre! But I think most school "boards" don't really like creative applicants. They are looking for reliable functionality. It depends on how many applicants there are also...supply and demand. Was this a regular thing, or did it just happen once?

oh yes. It wasn't a school board but Missouri State University that made it an issue. Being a Repo man and involved in a previous violent enterprise, of course charges were brought against me for destruction of property and physical assault because I was "stealing" their cars. Once the courts processed the information the judges threw out the accusations. One individual actually shot at me while I was taking their BMW, and they shot their own car and then took me to court over it. That was a fun experience.

After that I would have seeker different employment too. ... :ROFLMAO: ...

My one brother did car repo for about two weeks. After he was shot at a couple of times he quit. They weren't paid very much at all for that.

Repo work was easy. I then did unauthorized parking on private property. That was where most of the physical assaults happened. I then coordinated my crew in VA Beach to work the system so well that the city actually remade the city codes about towing.
