Thanks. When the episodes happen I've been petting her and it helps, too. I'd rather have it be reversed sneezing than congestive heart failure that Google suggested it might be

I have an appointment with her Vet this month. 13 days till then so if more things happen with her we will go to the emergency Vet.Due to her age, I agree the vet should take a look at her anyway.
Me too, Ruthanne; I'm really hoping for good news too.@Ruthanne Thinking of you and Suzy. I know you haven't seen the vet yet, but it's close, hoping you get some good news and I hope she hasn't been too bad at home. Good luck.![]()
Thank you @SeaBreeze She's had some pretty good days and then ones that aren't so good like yesterday. We see the vet Wednesday. Good news would be nice@Ruthanne Thinking of you and Suzy. I appreciate thatMe too, Ruthanne; I'm really hoping for good news too.
Thanks for the update Ruthanne. Glad the heartworm was negative and hope the xrays don't show anything too serious. Very stressful waiting for results like this, but try to be as calm and relaxed as possible.Saw the Vet today. They took X-rays and a heartworm test. Heartworm test was negative. That's good. They have the X-ray report from the radiologist but were too busy to call me. They should call tomorrow. I hope they'll have a treatment plan. She mentioned one but I don't know yet what she will prescribe.
I mentioned Backwards Sneezing to her and she said very young and older dogs sometimes start doing that. We shall see what is going on tomorrow although she said her initial look at the X-rays looked ok. They told me also that sometimes the Radiologist sees something they don't.
So I am waiting on that report from the Radiologist. I'll update as soon as I know.
@SeaBreeze and whoever else would like to know.
The Vet Tech said I should have had a video. I wish they would have told me before I came in with her. I am going to try and get her episodes on video tonight. She had an episode right after we got home. I was trying to comfort her and forgot to take a video.
Thank you. It looks somewhat similar to that but I can't be sure. Maybe different breeds seem somewhat different. She's been having these episodes for 3 weeks now and every day. Some days 3or 4 times and other times just for a few seconds. Some have been up to a minute with gurgling and snorting. She also sneezes regularly at times. I don't know. I'm confusedThanks for the update Ruthanne. Glad the heartworm was negative and hope the xrays don't show anything too serious. Back in the day, my Standard Schnauzers used to reverse sneeze sometimes, the vet said nothing to worry about. Here's just one video they had online.
Lots of videos with all different breeds, I just picked one close to Suzy in breed and size. You're welcome, hugs for you and your sweet girl. I understand why you are confused, hope you get some answers which help put your concerns to rest.Thank you. It looks somewhat similar to that but I can't be sure. We are indoors most of the time. She's had heartworm tests for many years and they all have been negative, however, I will look into getting some reasonably priced heartworm prevention. My money is getting funny. Just spend 400. on my car and 500. on the Vet today. I have to save more. Thank you for that good information Blessed!@Ruthanne, is she is on heartworm prevention? I don't know if it is common where you live but here in Texas we have a large mosquito population. All three of mine are on Triflexis which covers heartworm prevention, fleas and ticks to keep off them.
Some dogs that get heartworm can be saved but it is a very harsh treatment and very expensive. I would rather be safe than sorry. The medication for my littles runs about $125 for the little dogs for six months.
I hope she feels better soon. Saying a prayer for her to heal successfully right now.@SeaBreeze and anyone interested in this Update:
Heard from the Vet today. Suzy has some bronchitis. Her heart looks good. Her liver is slightly enlarged. Could be just because she's older but she wants to do labs to make sure Suzy doesn't have liver disease.
She prescribed 2 medicines. An antibiotic and something for a bit of a cough. I'm picking them up tomorrow.
Thank you!I hope she feels better soon. Saying a prayer for her to heal successfully right now.
