I didn’t realize that food was so much cheaper in your country. I also cook from scratch and buy very few convenience foods.
I'll give you a small example..I buy chicken drumsticks in a tray of 20 from Costco.... those make 10 meals... cost ?.. £5.00
I buy bacon in a pack of 6...units... cost £7.00... each pack last around 10 days... making £7.00 last 2 months using only £3.50 per month
Milk costs £1.45...per 2 litres .. = 3 1/2 pints ( this is my biggest outlay) ...I use 2 litres per week £6.00 per month
Bananas.. 90p per bunch of 5...
Grapes... £1.90 per punnet..last me 2 weeks...
Dozen free range eggs £2.39...last 2-3 weeks....
Minced beef.. (ground beef) £2.00 for a pound... I divide this into 1/4pounds and cook it up with a bunch of veggies, and sausages, then freeze... I usually freeze 20 portions which last me around 3 months.. and cost £5.00...
Bacon joint... 1. ( 2.2 pounds)... I boil and make into lentil and veggie soup using muchroom,s carrots, potatoes, and any veggies to hand .. then freeze.. Cost £4.20
the soup makes 8 large portions.....then the gammon joint is made into another 8 dishes of various foods.. like bacon and egg pies.. and mac & cheese with chopped bacon and broccoli... or curried ham ...
so far I've only used £28.50... for 38 meals plus fruit, and veggies,
Then there's bread at 99p per loaf...good bread.. I could get it cheaper but I don't..... 4 loaves lasts a month
Then I buy fish, steak.. flour, butter.. ( etc..
