My house in Florida

Got word that my place is still there with minimal damage. Some panels on the front were torn off and the insulation is exposed. I'll take it as wind gusts in our area were up to 94 mph.
My plastic shed, the kind you can get at Lowes, exploded and little parts all over the back yard. I was going to throw it away this winter anyway.
Some of my neighbors did not make out quite so well as roof shingles were lost, causing leaks, and carports were torn apart. I imagine some homes will need to be replaced.
I think I'll sleep a little better tonight. :sentimental:

Im still in NY and have made some calls to at least cover the front with plastic until I can get down in Oct.

Good to hear this, Pappy. Since you were trashing the shed anyway, Irma just broke it down for you. You were lucky. :)

Glad damage was minimal. I have a lot of friends in Central Florida who are still without power but are okay otherwise.

I'm so glad for you Pappy. I've been concerned for you and everyone in FL. Good news that you've got a home to go back to. :)

A forum is a strange thing.

I am feeling relief and happiness to hear that Pappy and Manatee are safe and that their property is relatively undamaged.
It is as if members of my family had been threatened and are now out of danger.

I am also feeling gratitude to Matrix and Seabreeze for allowing this forum to exist.
Thank you both. I will try to remember to be a more congenial member of my forum family as an mark of my appreciation.

I guess it's a day to feel happy and I couldn't agree with you more Warri.
I thank everyone of my forum family for your kind words and prayers. So many others were not so lucky.

Good to hear, Pappy. Glad your power is back on, Manatee.

Power just came back on here. It's been off since 3 pm Monday. In fairness to the power company guys, they could not have worked at all Monday night. Really strong winds lasted past midnight.

Thank goodness Pappy. You must be so relieved.

A quick update. I called my go to guy yesterday morning and asked if he would check things over at my place. About four hours later, he called and said that the front was repaired, the roof was in good condition and the windows were all there, no breaks. Send me the bill Paul, I said. He said it's on me this time so you can rest easy and enjoy your trip back in Oct.
This guy is top shelf in my book. I sure will see that he gets a nice gift certificate when I get back.

My neighbor, to the right of me, didn't make out so well. They have a good size hole in their roof and it is leaking into their dining room. I'm sure the good people will see that it gets a tarp put over the roof. I think the fire dept tarps roofs if they are called.

Just came home from shopping at 3 supermarkets. The cows must have evacuated, there was zero milk. Publix had 2 half gallons of GOAT milk.
