The next stop in French Polynesia was the island of Huahine. We had booked an excursion through the ship's offerings. It was a boat ride to a place where we'd do some snorkling then have a lunch of local foods. The sea was calm as we started out and there was some decent scenery to look at on our way to the destination.
Once at out destination we had to walk a fair way to where we would be snorkling as the landing spot was in an inlet and we would be snorkling in the open ocean. The landing spot was also where we would have lunch later. This spot was quite beautiful and well kept.

As it turned out, the area we were to snorkle in was pretty shallow and the water being so clear, we just waded out a way and could see all kinds of marine life swimming around us! No need for snorkle gear. As I was taking pics with the cell phone, I don't have any pics of the fish or coral we saw
When we were done at the coral area we hiked back to the lunch place (where we initially landed). The tables were all set up in the water. That was different!
Once we were back on the ship, we were sitting out on our balcony have=ing a cool drink and taking in the scenery when we noticed some movement in the water about 100 yards off the ship. We were anchored in a bay as there was no warf large enough to tie off the ship. At first we thought ... dolphins but no ... it was whales!

They never fully breached though. Their backs just came out of the water a couple of times!

It was still pretty cool watching them there in the bay just hanging out - resting possibly? There seemed to be two adult whales and a small on who stayed pretty close to Momma I assume
