My Knuckle, and nerve damage questions

Well, they had a movie called My Left Foot (great flic if you haven't seen it, it's an amazing story) so maybe My Right Knuckle:confused: No, that's not too funny considering the only thing that man could use was his left foot. True story too!

Anyway, I've mentioned I have some nerve damage in some parts of my body, but the only place that actually gives me severe pain is my right, index finger knuckle, the top one. And only if I touch it or bump it. I bumped it against my steering-wheel and it hurt so bad I teared up and wanted to pull over but there was no place. The pain last like a minute or less, but it was excruciating. It has become worse since 2010 when I realized my hand was messed up from over-use on a job. All seems way better, except for that knuckle.

Ok, so I go to a neurologist about 2 years ago, and the guy tortured me. That's just how I felt, I could not handle the pain of the needles he stuck in me, and not just stuck me, but had to move them around once they were in, omg, I'm almost crying thinking about it. So I left and never went back. All he said was that it appeared to "not be" carpal tunnel(splg?). So now, I guard this stupid thing with my life, but I am afraid to go back to a neuro.

Does anyone have anything like this, or know what it is, and can it be fixed? If I just touch it light, like a feather-touch, it feels numb, but bump it, totally different story:( denise

I can type, as you can see, and I am careful not to over-use that hand because it aches if I do, not the pain like bumping it just a soreness feeling.

Sounds like it could be arthritis. I have a similar finger (as you described) and that is my diagnoses.

oh man:( if that's arthritis, I have a whole, new outlook on what my grand-dad suffered:( So it just hurt when you bump or brush something against it, like blankets, etc.? I'm so afraid I'll roll over on it at night.

I'll google arthritis, thanks so much Drifter and I am sorry you have to deal with that:( denise

If it is arthritis it is in all your joints and that was the first one to show it.
When the doctor tells you all the cartilage was gone in your joints, disc in spine and it is time to see a surgeon. Don’t you just wish you could go out and buy a box of cartilage? Well maybe you can, gelatin is cartilage and the common brand is Knox. If you remember your grandmothers bone soup she would get bones with joints and boiled them in water and vinegar. The vinegar leached out the cartilage and minerals from the bones.
I make capsules of gelatin and take 15 a day. I have no pain in any joints at 71 years old. Doing this is a process and not a drug so it might take 3-4-5-6 months to see it working. You will probably cancel the surgeon. Then you can fire your doctor because you know more than him.

Wow Doug, this is awesome! I so believe in trying alternatives first!! Thank you soooooo much! How do you make the gelatine caps? I have to go to town tomorrow, and I can get some Knox. denise

PS also, I have electrical shocks in much of my legs, arms hands. The knuckle thing started with that, so I think you are "right on"!!

Have you tried the Glucosamine/Chrondriotin capsules yet ?? I get those, plus MSM powder and take that every day. As long as i avoid having sugary foods, I usually am only stiff when I first get up and have to get my body limbered up a bit , then am better.
I also use DMSO, and spray it all over after my shower. It is what msm is made from, and really helps when you have pain. I also have it in a roll-on that I use for when you just need to get one specific area, like you need for your knuckles.
Also, fresh raw pineapple is a natural anti-inflammatory, and also a pain reliever. If i do get worse arthritis (due to weather, etc) then I usually get a pineapple, and just eat nothing else all day until i feel better.

I can't afford much right now HFL. I priced the gelatin and it looks affordable, but yes, I used to always take Glucosamine/Chondroiten and MSM supplement. Not since I've had the nerve problems though. I will keep it in mind for when I may be able to afford it. If the gelatin works, I'll stick with that. I noticed there is a combo thing at Walmart with Glucosamine and it's by Knox;) ty, denise

I can understand that ! I have to squeeze and stretch every penny, too, NWL. Here is another thing that is pretty affordable, and might be of help for you to try.
Years ago, i read a book about Vermont Folk medicine by Dr. Jarvis. He recommended apple cider vinegar (usually mixed with honey) for many things for both humans and livestock. One of the things it is supposed to help is arthritis. I just took a pint jar filled it a third full with honey, added another third or a little more of ACV, and then either let it sit or shake the daylites out of it. the vinegar dissolves the honey. You can either take a TBSP several times a day, or you can add it to hot or cold water and drink it that way. Raw honey and organic ACV are the best to use; but even just regular stuff from Walmart will help.

I use ACV, especially because it pretty much seems to have cured me from chronic sinus infections I "used" to have. It's a miracle drink if you ask me! I didn't know about it helping with arthritis though, I will keep it in mind as well. I am thrilled to be hearing all these alternatives because for some reason, any pill a doc has ever given me never works on me. I always end up with some "worse" side effect. I do attribute my life to a pacemaker though, and luckily, no meds needed at all for that condition. My heart would not beat over 40 bpm's in 97, so I tried some supplements for 3 months before I would let them do the surgery, simple, think I stayed over one night is all.

Anyway, the honey would surely help the ACV go down easier, although I've gotten pretty used to it. I take it for any stomach upset etc. and if I get any sign of sniffles;) ty again HFL;) denise

I don't think arthritis would make it sensitive to the touch like that. Sounds like Fibromyalgia, but don't know if that can be just in one small area like that. Is there any redness or swelling in the knuckle? My friend had Fibro, and I recommended that she try Magnesium Malate, and she had great relief when taking that supplement. It's not cheap though, Source Naturals has a good brand, less than $20 a bottle I think.
