My New Doctor

Took me a few weeks to find a new one after my present personal doctor of 15 years died.
My health plan gave me a "Provider Directory" that has over 200 names to choose from, half the names I cant even pronounce.I asked around for references but not much luck.
I wanted a doctor that speaks good English and not afraid to spend 20-30 minutes of his time with me.
I checked out my late wife doctor who I really liked but his staff told me "he wasn't accepting any new patients".
Bumped into him at the hospital,he remembered my name said "you're my new patient go to my office and fill out the forms".
WHEW!!! Talk about luck.

Good for you..It's important to be comfortable with your doc. I've been seeing mine for way over 30 years. My file is about 6 inches thick.

Mine retired about 6 years ago. Haven't found another one yet. Actually haven't needed one. I'll inquire in the ER if
I happen to go there when something happens.

I DO see my dermatologist and dentist each twice/year however.

That is awesome Davey!! So glad for you. I chose a cardio, but I didn't know anything other than what I read. I think I got lucky, although he does have his "assistant" which I don't like, do most of the stuff, consultations etc. One thing I really don't like about him, well, two things is one, he won't make eye contact except for a second or two, literally. The other thing is he touches me on the shoulder or back as if to sort of usher me, or show me the way out. Ick, don't touch me unless your examining me:( I can tell he's not a people-person.

Anyway, nuf bout me, I'm just so glad you got your doc, back (or the wifes) because there are those 200+ we are supposed to choose from:(
