My niece sent me a food saver sealer

Just to chuck my 10¢ in, I've been using a FoodSaver for years. The "knock-off bags" work fine. I started buying them off of EBay, and my favourite seller then expanded to selling off of Amazon and Walmart's site. As I've commented elsewhere, they are 1/3 the price of Food Saver, making them less expensive than even FoodSaver's BOGO sales. I've successfully used all sizes (pint/quart/gallon) as well as the narrow and wide rolls.

So what happened to your machines? I've also been through a couple of them and replaced the seal on one (FoodSaver sells the foam seals.) I've found deals on refurbished on their site, when they've had them on the site. The 2 I bought at Goodwill should have been thrown out, not donated.
First one I had the seal went bad and it was old so I bought a new one which worked great until the sucker went out on me. Wouldn't pull the air out anymore.

I bought a batck of pork and rib eye steaks yesterday. Did them up today. Spent less than $15 for all of it. Got about 8-9 packages of meat. Lots of meals for me and will last a while, as I do not eat these a lot. Mostly chicken, when I do have meat.

Have you tried opening any of the packages yet? I have a hard time opening strip-cheese wrappers and similar packages.

I have one of those, works great when all the air gets sucked out. Take the time to learn how to use it.
I have cooked stuff up after a year and it was just as tasty as fresh.

Yes, I am still getting used to it. I have not eaten any of the meat I have sealed yet, using up the older stuff first.
