I don't have gout and hope I never get it. When my podiatrist, who's about total body health, reviewed my blood work several months ago he said although my uric acid was within normal range, it was at the high end of that range. He suggested Now Cherry Concentrate as a preventive measure. I told him I keep frozen cherries in the house but he said the supplement is better. The capsules are too large for me to swallow, so I break them open and add them to my tea. They don't interfere with the taste of the tea at all.

My husband was not a drinker but he wound up getting gout. I suspect it's because he ate too much meat. Have you ever taken cherry concentrate? Have you ever been afflicted with gout? If so, what was the recommended treatment? Here is information about gout:

I have swollen ankles or did have and had to stop eating so much salt and elevate my feet for 20 minutes a day. I wear compression socks also. Are foods we eat possibly involved in making too much uric acid? It is too complicated for me to understand, but I am taking care of possibility of getting gout with a heathy diet, low sodium, exercise, and elevating my feat when they begin to swell.

Well if you read the Mayo Clinic page I linked, you will find the answer as far as which foods can cause gout. Nothing complicated about it. Just keep scrolling beyond all those confounded ads until you see Causes. I would think you'd need to elevate your feet for more than 20 minutes a day, but whatever works for you. I've had to deal with swollen ankles at times, worn the compression socks, etc. Good for you for making healthy choices Paco.

My friend is in agony because of the pain in her feet. Her uric acid was fine but the doctor decided it still could be gout so was treating her for that. Besides a medication, one of the things she did was drink cherry juice. None of this helped because it wasn’t gout. It’s arthritis in her feet. Also she wasn’t wearing good support shoes.

I have experienced short bouts of gout and they're not nice. I was prescribed Colchicine tablets, but they can have unpleasant side effects and the difference between an effective dose and an overdose is small. Although I try to avoid Nsaids, I found Ibuprofin was beneficial.

Several years ago I developed gout and it was incredibly painful. I had been following a vegetarian diet for a few years, and off and on for my entire life. I was hospitalized for something unrelated and went off the meatless diet, and almost immediately had gout. Less than a month later I got it in the other foot. It went away within a month or so but the joints in my big toes still hurt a little. Years ago I worked in a natural foods store, and was taught that cherry juice concentrate was excellent for gout. At that time I was recovering from a serious illness and didn't remember that. I would use it today if the gout returned.
