My Problem with Writing

I have to reread several times to filter my writing and get it right.
Some people never do and the rest of us spend way too much time trying to figure out what they meant.
I am an engineer, but in my view, engineers are the worst, and we always had to have a Technical Writer
on hand to help.
LOL, for what it is worth, your writing is at least as good as mine.

Not that I can't write, it's that I constantly re-read and revise. I never feel what I write is good enough. Only time it was a problem, though, was when I had to hand in a homework assignment or my boss was waiting for a report.
Good enough for what? For example.
What's the worst that could happen if you offer an opinion and some anonymous person you will never meet criticizes what you write? Why would you care?

I have a suggestion that may help you get rid of that need to be perfect, which is, start writing in the Diaries section, maybe how you get ready for yard sales, your house, other things about your life and just write, no re-writing, just leave it. and then go back later and make any changes you think you need. After doing that for a while, write once, make any editing right then and then leave it. It's called desensitizing your feelings.

Standard English was for school and work
In my world any personal exchange of information, written or spoken should contain colloquial expressions and a dose of vernacular to inform the reader who you are, where your from, educational level...
Do we want to be viewed as ignorant? No were just telling the other person, this my style, this is my region, this is how I think.
If you wish to call them idioms, that is acceptable, but it marks you as an outsider.
We are zealous of our style.

When I worked in the lab, there were many Asian students and they would bring me their papers and reports to me to "massage" (i.e. correct grammar, spelling, syntax, etc). When I handed one back to a fellow, he said "This isn't my paper anymore."

More seriously, (only a BIT more seriously ;) )

I have both difficulties, too. One, The composition and the urges to re-write, re-write, re-write.... well, you see what I mean.....

AND, the increasing difficulty with holding pens or getting the correct keyboard spots, though I find the keyboard is easier for my hands than the grip on narrow objects...

Read post 3, 9, 15...
were old, we have done our time, paid our dues

Yea, were old, but we still have the need to conform-stop it! Get rid of that baggage, write as you are, betch'a it's
interesting, more interesting when you use your natural style.
