My Roller Coaster Ride Of A Life

Welcome to our forum, Signe,
and thank you for your introduction, and for your posts, that help us all to get to know each other. :)

I like the way you described life as hills and valleys, and a roller coaster ride. Thanks for all of your sharing!:geek:

I noticed also that you have a cat, with a fun name. 😁🐱

I cannot imagine what it would have been like with those two boys stalking the halls and just shooting at will. Apparently, there had been an incident prior to this at another school in Colorado, but it did not get the coverage Columbine did. What a horror and still it continues today. I am a nurse and saw my share of gun wounds come into the OR where I worked and it isn't pleasant.
The two boys from what I remember were kind of misfits and didn't really get along with very many other students. As a teacher you try to help students along that seem to struggle to fit in, but from what I remember these two boys didn't seem like they wanted it. This being said I was still very shocked at the incident of that day and some is still quite fuzzy in my head. I do know that there is a lot of work being done for mental illness and counseling for students that was not as much around back then.

Thank You and also for the beautiful flowers. :)

Thank You, I truly believe all of us go through life on a roller coaster ride. Some on a much smoother ride than others. Oh yes my cat she is my cuddle buddy.

Well, at least you have survived it all and are safe, thankfully. Your son is probably very proud of his mom.

I hope he is as proud of me as I am proud of him.

I kicked that lymphoma bug too and good riddance. We will never let it back in eh!!!

Thank You, I definitely don't want any of that crap back.

Hello and welcome from New Jersey. You certainly have been on a roller coaster. I admire you for your strength during so many difficult times in your life.
Now its time for that coaster to slow down so you can get off and enjoy yourself, pursue what makes you happy for many years to come.
Yes it certainly is. I want to have a smooth ride for the remainder of my life that is for sure. Thank You for the welcome.

Hi @Signe The Survivor, very nice to have you join us! You have certainly been through a lot in life, and I'm glad you survived it all and still have your son in your life. Wishing a bright future for the both of you...hugs.

Thank You so much. Adopting my son has been such a wonderful part of my life that came out of a down period of my life when I first found I couldn't have children and then went through a divorce which stemmed from all of that as well.

All of you come up with the most beautiful photos.

I was born the same year as you, and also was not able to conceive. After a couple of tries with IVF, I decided it was not meant to be and we chose not to adopt. I'm happy you're close with your son, you deserve the joy he brings you.

I knew when I married that we wanted to start a family. After trying for quite some time and then finding out I could not conceive what I did not know is he was not willing to go into our marriage with alternative plans. So he distanced himself from me and I found out he went on to cheat on me which eventually led to us separating and then divorcing. I then went on to do the best thing for me and that was to adopt my son.

Sad ending, but I'm glad it turned out that way and you left him. He didn't deserve you and would have brought a lot of negativity and sadness into your life. Every gray cloud has a silver lining.

I agree with that. I have always tried to surround myself with people with positive vibes and one of those people were always my mom. While going through my Cancer treatments the one thing I love about the Nurses and Doctors is how positive they all are. There were times when I was quite down during Chemo and just being around them brought it up many notches and kept me going. Those are the people we all need to surround ourselves with each day.

Welcome to the forum Signe. Hope you get to enjoy a long, and fun filled retirement. I have a son who teaches in Denver, and Columbine sometimes crosses my mind. Mike
Thank You, I plan on living out and relaxing throughout my retired life. Teaching is an extremely tough profession, but also quite rewarding when you see you actually have gotten through to students. Since that day on April 20, 1999 , my life changed. You would think someone who kicked Cancer not once but twice would be able to actually understand fully the happenings of that day, but I still have a hard time grasping it all. There isn't a day since then that I don't think about even if it is for seconds in my day. Definitely the worst day in my entire life.

Thank You, I do think everyone is on some sort of a roller coaster ride through live. Some have a much more smoother ride than others. I imagine others have had even a more whirlwind ride then myself as well. Thank You so much. :)
 There were moments in my life when I was shocked by how different my life was from the life I had planned for myself. Our later years is a time of coming to peace with our lives.

I hope reincarnation is a reality. I would love to play the game life again.
