My wobbling walk is getting difficult.

There is chair yoga available on Youtube if you don't want to leave the house.
There’s better than a chart. . There’s Namaste yoga. Ask for Season one , Part one. It’s hard to do at first but gradually most people get better. It uses your muscles but it’s not too active like aerobics. Do what you can and leave the rest.

I’m in agreement to see a specialist maybe even a rheumatologist. Get checked for autoimmune disorders.

If you have muscle pain then a chiropractor is great. I have muscle injuries from a few car accidents and a curve in my neck and seeing one every 2 weeks keeps me active and limber.

If I had for instance a ruptured disc a chiropractor couldn’t help. It’s one reason most chiropractors X-ray you the first time they see you or after you have an accident. They also don’t want to be treating someone for back pain when actually they have bone cancer.

I have also never been convinced that a chiropractor can do much for me. Saw one once about 35 years ago. He made the back pain substantially worse. I cried when I got home. Went to another one after a car accident. I think that place might have caused shoulder pain that flares up now and again. Got physical therapy for the shoulder pain that got worse in cold weather and that actually helped.

But the best thing I got for aches and pains was a soft, memory foam mattress. Second best thing: This workout program called Aging Backwards by Miranda Esmonde-White. There are DVD sets of full episodes for sale on Ebay and here is her site: The Official Site of Classical Stretch The collagen seems to be helping too.
Good. Yoga is stretching and strengthening at the same time. So long as you do it gently. They want to help you, not hurt you. Keep it up.

Last friday for the first time ever, I took my wheeled walker
to the bank....got along fine...but, I am noticing a definite
weakness in my legs nowadays...so I need to be careful....

Do you drive ? Does your bank have a drive-up window ?

I use the window @ my bank for the same reasons, and I find the service to be fine, actually better than inside @ the counter.

Hi, I hope everyone does well with their therapies. I am 69.

Just chiming in to say I injured myself doing some gardening 2 months ago, lol. All I did was jump in the air, onto a shovel, to get it into the hard soil. It's something I've done a million times, without a problem.

This time I heard and felt a snap in my right knee. No pain, so I kept using it, although no more jumping. It started hurting the next day.

That was 2 months ago. It is finally getting 'better' I hope. I had to help my mother move for 2 weeks after the snap, which aggravated it.

I found some knee exercises online that I do every day. Just started them yesterday.
Going down stairs in the most painful part of it, but I can do that now without a huge amount of pain. Going upstairs is not painful. Walking is a tiny bit painful, and I probably look like I am in pain.

I just hope I didn't do some permanent damage.

I have been to PT before for frozen shoulder, and it helped. I am hoping just doing the online knee exercises will get it back to normal. I am not planning to see physical therapist at this point.

Best of luck to me, and to everyone !
You need to see a doctor to get that thing that snapped looked at.

Thanks, I usually didn't want to go off of them because I was afraid my cholesterol would get bad. I will bring it up.
Statins are not "bad". Maybe the dosage needs to be adjusted? Much research has found statins to be very beneficial in lowering cholesterol. But the other thing that can be very helpful is changing one's diet. Unfortunately, many people of all ages are very stubborn about changing our diets, as the lines at McDonald's demonstrate.

I am only 70, just shy of 71, and I waddle like a duck. I don't mind it, it's just now there is pain in my muscles which could be a side effect of simvastatin, but don't know. Oh well, I am alot healthier than some seniors. I am still very thankful.
I was on lipitor and experienced muscle pain in both legs. My cardiologist prescribed another. Simvastatin can also cause muscle pain..

To add to my previous response, .... you already using one of topical creams, ... but
'Voltaren Arthritis Pain Gel' is 'wonder cream' to eliminate the pain on my left leg. Actually, my Ortho.doc prescribed it, but it's an OCT Gel to purchase anywhere in stores. Prior to Orth-doc., I used to take two tabs of Tylenol 650 MG per day, but as my pain started to progress, I had no other choice to seek for Ortho.doc.
Also, as we all know, 'rest' is one of most important aspects to alleviate the pain. Aside from Tramadol and two more pain meds., I take a short rest, 15 to 20 minutes few times per day lying down on the couch in the backroom that helps a lot of pain I've been dealing with.
Just a side note on Voltaren. My wife uses it for her hip and ankle but if you are on blood thinners like I am, you shouldn’t use it. Contains Ibuprofen.

Actually the studies show that statins are only beneficial for people that meet certain criteria including already having a cardiac event. Most of the studies were done on men. If you read Pub Med you can see the studies.

Also many studies show that for every person that is helped more people have side effects. Some are serious such as causing type two diabetes. Higher cholesterol within reason is associated with better health in older age. It really pays to read the studies written for medical professionals.

Good important info. Thanks Pappy.
I hope you work this out fancicoffee.
Maybe your doctor will give you a steroid shot. With the hair loss, it sounds autoimmune related. Hopefully you’ll get this figured out.

No, it is due to stress. I am resigning to wearing a wig. I have gotten so many compliments on it that I like what I am doing. Thank you.
