I had been wobbling in my walk before, but now my muscles in my legs, thighs and hips are painful on and off. To the point of needing my cane at church. I never had this before, maybe arthur is paying me a visit. Arthiritis. I get around carefully and slowly, I am only 70. hehe

We're all supposed to be in yoga class. They have chair yoga at the YMCA. It will not be pretty but it must be done to keep joints moving. We're also supposed to be doing squats every day to keep our legs strong. They also make cane chairs, those 3-legged chairs that fold. I want to get one for line-standing. My back hurts so badly some days. I do all the things I can do to manage it - take pain meds, stretch, etc., but it's just worn out.

i have the same problem- i stand in line to get a prescription and i cant stay still so i have to carry a cane to keep from falling over i am 90
I am only 70, just shy of 71, and I waddle like a duck. I don't mind it, it's just now there is pain in my muscles which could be a side effect of simvastatin, but don't know. Oh well, I am alot healthier than some seniors. I am still very thankful.

edit...oops...posted movie to wrong forum.

But while I'm here, I don't take any meds except for low thyroid but I've had trouble with my feet and legs before. I did some things that seem to help...rest more, raise my feet way above my heart, drink more water, take a Vitamin B Complex...Check with your doc and get a good brand, mine's Mega-Food (from farm to tablet), take my dogs out for a bike ride at least twice a day (3-wheel so the dogs can't pull me over and a basket in back when Bella gets tired (I can send you a pic if you want), and eat a protein salad. Also bought good Brooks shoes.

"Philomena" starring Judi Dench. True stories really affect me...especially regarding children in harms way. I took my mother with me and when we walked out of the theater to the parking lot she was all talkative about what a good movie it was. I couldn't talk for holding back the tears. When I got in the driver's seat I couldn't start the car and just burst into tears. I didn't want her to see me like that but it took me a moment to gain my composure.
What does that have to do with the thread topic? Sweetie. šŸ˜€

Did you try to visit Orth. doc. or Neurologist? I have a very similar issue due to Scoliosis on which the excruciating pain radiating from top of thigh to all way down to ankle of my left leg. Tramadol is 'wonder' drug for me to live as normal as possible. Also, I, too have Arthritis all around on my back, however Tramadol is a big help. Otherwise, I am not able to work around the house, much less working flower-garden all year long.

You nailed it, we must keep our muscles in shape, because as they say, " use it or lose it".

There is chair yoga available on Youtube if you don't want to leave the house.

Seems like a good idea to consider ;
To check with the doctor about the script possibly causing that , if it's a change , Fanci.
It is best to not just assume that every difficult symptom we get, is simply an unavoidable part of getting older. It could be an important warning sign, or something that can or should be addressed.

To add to my previous response, .... you already using one of topical creams, ... but
'Voltaren Arthritis Pain Gel' is 'wonder cream' to eliminate the pain on my left leg. Actually, my Ortho.doc prescribed it, but it's an OCT Gel to purchase anywhere in stores. Prior to Orth-doc., I used to take two tabs of Tylenol 650 MG per day, but as my pain started to progress, I had no other choice to seek for Ortho.doc.
Also, as we all know, 'rest' is one of most important aspects to alleviate the pain. Aside from Tramadol and two more pain meds., I take a short rest, 15 to 20 minutes few times per day lying down on the couch in the backroom that helps a lot of pain I've been dealing with.

Well, I had put that in my cart and decided not to buy it, it was $24.95. But, hearing your testimony, I will get it. Thanks. A bunch!

I'm a huge proponent of rest too. Also inversion for strengthening the weak limb(s). It can help. Especially when you're well rested and feel able to tackle more. Inversion keeps weight off the weakening limb. It helps me. :)

I also read your, other thread, ... regarding Chiropractor, ... I went for about six months for my pain issue and my BCBS paid all for four months' sessions, twice per a week and after that, I needed to pay $50 per session, but my chiropractor didn't send any bills at all. It's nice, but in my eperience as to Chiropractor, it didn't much help. Along the way, I also went to Physical Therapy for about four months twice per a week. Both didn't much help. In my guess tho', both would help if your condition is milder form of pain, like 'pinched-nerve' and the like.
Through the years's pain management ... it's a best course is to seek for the doctor. The ortho.doc or neurologist who accept Medicare must have all states, including the place where you live. All of my bills are paid by Medicare and BCBS and medications is much cheaper in comparison with any OTC pain meds., i.e. I pay just $5.00 for two tubes of 'rx'ed Voltaren Arthritis Pain Gel' and all other pain meds are the same, only $3.00 to $5.00 per med. So, after all, I can save a lot of money and first of all I get 'peace of mind' rx'ed by the doctor, rather looking for pain meds. all by myself.

Oh we definitely want a pic!

It is possible the statin drug is causing muscle weakness. It happens to my mother and now she doesn't take statins every day but every other day or three times a week. They still work but are not so debilitating.

In reading the posts, that was one of my thoughts. Is medication the cause of many problems as we age? Thus far, I am not on any meds. I do take a very small piece of a muscle relaxer if I wake up through the night with overly tight muscles...chamomile tea helps as well. I definitely need a new mattress, which I will be getting soon.
