Nap? Or no nap?

I'll nap when after a rotten night's sleep, but otherwise I generally don't.

Come about 4pm most days, I wrap up whatever tasks I'd intended for the day and shift into a relaxed gear. Read, watch a movie, surf the net, talk, text or zoom with friends/family. That kind of thing.

Unless I'm really sick, I only nap on the couch, never in bed.

They say napping is not good for us, but I have no choice. If I don't take a nap, I'm not only a useless zombie but, when bedtime finally does arrive, I won't be able to sleep.
"They" say a lot of things :ROFLMAO: Then "They" change their minds. I say, do what makes YOU feel good, within reason - of coarse. :)

Today, not feeling great at all - laid down in the back office on a cot for about 20 minutes. Didn't sleep, but it helped to rest.

Why do they make little kids take naps they hate, and tell adults not to nap? In some countries, don't they all go home and nap ?

I hope you’re feeling better now.

I take all the naps. When I feel sleepy, I go to bed, tuck myself in real good, and fall asleep within 5 minutes. I wake up an hour or so later with 3 cats napping on top of me.

Two or three naps in a day means I'll be up until 1 or 2 in the morning. That doesn't matter to me at all. I do go to bed with my wife - she usually goes down at around 9pm - but when I've done my duties as a husband and she's peacefully asleep, if I'm not, I get back up. And I snore, so it's better for her that I do. She has to get up early for work most mornings.

Same. I think it's a cortisol thing. Staying awake all day, builds tension until I can't sleep later. I go to sleep right after lunch whether I want to or not, sleep about 80 minutes and then sleep from 8 to 4 at night. I am, and always have been, officially a Sleepy Head.

:) You're absolutely right, CaliS. Thanks.
Hope you're feeling better, hope it's not the flu.

Ohhh, I feel this so much. A midday nap is pure bliss… it’s like wrapping yourself in a quiet little bubble where the world can wait. For those 20–30 minutes, nothing matters except the pillow.

But yes… the night revenge is real. It’s like your brain whispers, ā€œRemember that nap earlier? We’re even now.ā€ And suddenly you’re wide awake at 3 a.m., staring at the ceiling in the dark.

I do nap sometimes, especially on slow afternoons. But I try to keep it short and cozy, just enough to rest my eyes, not enough to confuse my entire sleep schedule. Though honestly… sometimes the nap is worth the risk.
