Natalie Wood death case being examined again

Did anyone watch the program last night? There were a couple of new witnesses that changed some of the story. Wagner had said that Wood was in their room alone and after a while Wagner said he realized she wasn't on the boat. He had said that the dingy was partly unsecured and was banging on the side of the boat which likely disturbed Natalie and so she likely went out there to tie it back up, and then probably tripped on the stairs, got hit on the head, fell in the water and drowned. And he says he should have been there for her. With the new witnesses (which the detective said were credible) that story doesn't hold up because they saw TWO figures outside the boat that night. Wagner didn't allow for help for quite a long time to be called because he said he thought that she had gone onshore to get away from the boat.

The other new witness was docked nearby and could hear horrible fighting. The captain of Wagner's boat said that the argument in the room was very loud and he could hear banging on the walls so that it really sounded something like something really violent going on. The detective said that the autopsy showed that Natalie had injuries on her body similar to someone having been assaulted.

As far as Christopher Walken is concerned, his main contribution to what happened was that Natalie was paying a lot of attention to him and Wagner became more and more ragingly jealous. There was a fight in the living area and Wagner smashed a champagne bottle on the table with glass all over the floor. He told the detectives that it was a result of choppy waters.

There's lots more to this story (and Lani Woods, Natalie's younger sister) was interviewed. She did say that at least once, Natalie had to run to a neighbor because she felt her life was threatened (by Wagner). And she said that Natalie told her how frightened she was of Wagner (of course, this is hearsay). They got divorced and then later got remarried, and were married until that day on the boat.

Because of the time that has passed since the event, the statute of limitations has run out for all except for murder. And the detective said that they could not charge anyone for the murder of Natalie because there was no evidence as to how Natalie got into the water. And the question was if someone could have saved her, but didn't, wouldn't that be a crime? And the answer was that, no, nothing in the law obligates anyone to save someone in trouble.

So, basically, it appears that nothing really relevant has changed as far as being able to do anything about this possible murder.

My theory at the time was jealousy. Natalie Wood and Walken became very close during the filming of Brainstorm. Countless men* have murdered their wives over jealousy not to mention death eliminates community property and alimony.

*before you all get your knickers in a twist I am certain there are as many wives who have murdered their husbands.

I watched some of the 'over hyped' episode, didn't change my mind about this,a tragic accident
As I mentioned in a previous post,3 times a yr,Nov/Feb/May are known as 'sweep months' where networks have special episodes of their shows, programming just to get higher ratings then they usually do. Last night was a perfect example. Sue

If they had anything substantial, they would have charged Wagner years ago. I agree, just ratings hype. (And in my heart of hearts, I suspect that he did kill her... possibly accidentally as they were all drinking.)

True, nothing really changed as to solving what really happened in this tragic event, but I found this program interesting because it reminded me of everything I had already known and forgotten. And did remind me of what a great actress Natalie Wood really was and how very sad that she lost her life at the young age of 43 and really makes us think about the decisions we make in our lives.

I think there was enough physical evidence on the boat at the time for further investigation, maybe not arrest but investigation. Wagner supposedly purposely slammed and broke a wine bottle on a table. A bottle that might roll off in rough sea would probably break differently. Also who leaves broken glass on a boat? And the smell of alcohol?-That should have at least make them look at a drunken domestic altercation. I think the initial law enforcement on the scene was star struck and/or probably had covered for a celebrity on more than one occasion. Also Wood involved in a prior dispute with Wagner where she ran to a neighbor's for help-I'm surprised the Wood family didn't hire a private investigator. That helps establish a pattern of behavior-violent arguments and temper. And to this day Walken still won't talk about it.

Also the boat the Splendor is for sale in Hawaii, wonder if the new buyers have thoroughly checked the history of the boat or the history is a selling feature.

That's still true. It's more ikely a combination of being star-struck and knowing how much harder they'll have to work to prove a case against someone who can hire the best defense lawyers and private investigators to refute any case they try to make.

I do remember this investigation being re-opened in 2012, and then I don't remember reading anything else about it. I don't know how they going to prove anything. I'm going to try to watch that 48 Hours program about it tomorrow. I remember her dark eyeliner and it looked good on her. I was really upset about her death, especially since it involved drowning, one of the ways I'd hate to go. Very scary.
Yes, I thought I remembered that it had been opened fairly recently then nothing.

I was always suspicious about this case. At the time I liked both her and her husband. I hated to think that he killed her but to me it just didn't seem feasible that it was an accident. I do think his status as a well known star had something to do with him not being investigated further back then. Who knows, maybe he paid somebody off. Why weren't the bruises from a suspected beating mentioned at first? Now it has surfaced that they had a heated argument that night and someone, perceived to be Wagner said "get the f*** of my boat". I posted about this on two other sites and the general consensus was that (most) felt it was no accident but it's too late to prosecute now given his age and how long it might take to go to trial if it went that far. BTW..I never liked Christopher Walken who I heard from two sources had an affair with Natalie. And somebody replied on another forum that same sick joke.

I just watched that special online, and there still isn't anything, IMHO, that woud lead to a conviction -- it's all just suspicious stuff and speculation. I agree that I wouldn't be surprised if there were more to it, but what they've got doesn't really get them anywhere. All the big drunken fights, broken winebottles and orders to get off the boat don't really prove anything as relates to whether he killed her or not.
