National lettuce shortage

We've noticed a problem with lettuce, in our area, also. Up until a couple of months ago, a nice head was in the $1 to $1.50 price range. Recently the prices have doubled, or more, and the heads are quite a bit smaller. This appears to be another "issue" likely related to the virus. Most of the lettuce we get comes from either California, or Mexico...and production and delivery processes are being impacted by the virus.

I haven't noticed a shortage. Prices are up, but that's true of a lot of food items currently.

One thing we won't see is people hoarding lettuce!

I guess I'll be switching to Romaine, then spinach. When that gives out I'll just go in the backyard and eat crab grass.

I remember the days when I'd used spinach in place of lettuce; that didn't last long. I was trying to eat healthier then.

Use shredded cabbage. More body and more vitamins and minerals.

The lettuce here is always mediocre & overpriced in the winter. I’ve switched to cucumber salads. Thin slices are tasty on a sandwich too.

That's okay by me, I don't like lettuce and it has little nutritional value IMO. I use baby spinach leaves in place of lettuce in salad and there's no shortage of that....yet....

I haven't noticed that here, though I buy the ones in the plastic containers at Walmart. Mostly for my pet bunny. He cannot have much spinach so I usually pick that out of his portions.

I like a mix of spinach and arugula (rocket in the UK).
