NBA Basketball Star Disrespects Canadian National Anthem

I think the two singers who sang the US national anthem at Churchill Downs Friday and Saturday were dishonoring our anthem just by the way they warbled it. It's to be sung, not performed. ("Disrepect" is a noun only, in my vocabulary! :) )

Apparently Wade thinks he's the only star on the court so doesn't respect "The Star-Spangled Banner" any more than he does "O Canada."

I don't have much respect for basketball "stars," so while I'm disgusted with his behavior at this game, I'm not terribly surprised.

If I had a choice of watching an NBA game, or watching grass grow, I would opt for the grass.

Per Guitarist, I also hate to listen to how some of these "celebrities" butcher our national anthem.

I may have tended to agree with you until I went to see an NBA game. My first game was the Celtics at the Lakers in the last 80's. After that night, I was hooked on watching a lot of games on TV. Today, I only follow LeBron James and the Cavaliers. The atmosphere at a live game is very riveting. I even got to see Nicholson sitting in the front row at court side. I always enjoyed going to the United Center in Chicago and watching Michael Jordan play.

We've seen NBA players disrespect the Star Spangled Banner often. We see "professional" athletes from most all sports disrespect it. There is no surprise when they disrespect the Canadian National Anthem. Professional athletes are a prime example of this "ME" generation of spoiled and coddled brats.

Hmmm. In my experience both on and offline, I see just as many middle aged and senior spoiled and coddled brats as young ones. IMHO, it is inter generational. As for a ME generation, I thought that originally referred to those of us during the time of the flower children?

The flower children were hippies. The ME generation followed starting out as yuppies . Many were chastised by ex hippies and/or parents for their lack of political direction and prioritizing wealth & lifestyle(yuppy scum).
