New apps for your Smartphone

I see where Domino's is advertising a new app for your iPhones/Smartphones. It's voice communication and you get to talk to a computer generated voice to place your order. Isn't that what you did when you used to call them to place an order, only you talked to a warm body?
 
Seems they have an app for everything nowadays, don't they? I don't have an iPhone or Smartphone, so I'm out of the loop. If I want to order pizza, I call them up for delivery, or make the order on their website.
 
I only carry my mobile phone when driving, in case of emergency, it is always switched off, no one, not even my nearest and dearest, have the number!
 
I am totally attached to my smartphone which I know isn't always a good thing. But it comes in handy for so many things like when I'm out with other people and we lose touch in a crowd, or want to meet up later, or finding my husband who tends to wander off when we are shopping. We travel a lot and I use it to stay in touch with family and friends through Facebook or email. I like to take and post photos with my phone to FB while on a holiday somewhere just as much as I enjoy seeing family and friends post theirs while still there. Just saw a photo this morning of my in-laws in Spain.

I never use my phone while driving but always wait to pull over. I get FB notifications from TravelScotland which will give updates on road conditions, and a couple of times we were traveling home by our usual route and discovered there was another landslide. So we diverted to the route which uses a ferry. This saved us tons of time. We also get updates on whether ferries are cancelled due to storms. The list is endless.
 
Me too, Ameriscot, I'd be lost without my phone, living in the country, I use mine as a hotspot sometimes when I cannot get a connection to wifi.

I have 1GB mobile data per month, and usually get a mobile signal so can use the phone most of the time. I'm 'semi-rural' and we don't have the greatest broadband.
 
I have an android phone whatever the heck that is.
It does everything I need so why should upgrade?

Its a shame what the majority of cell phones users have become...
