New cars - Yes or No

Well I haven't had a car since around 1985.lol I always have two vehicles, usually a truck and an SUV. The trucks I buy used so I can be a bit rough with them, the SUV I buy new or maybe a year old. Will probably buy a new SUV before the end of the summer, plan on buying new.

When I was young I always said I had to have two vehicles so I could keep one nice and always date ready. I guess I still think that way, though I don't date anymore.

I think this is what you're referring to. ;)
A certified pre-owned (CPO) car is a used vehicle that's been thoroughly inspected and repaired as needed. The manufacturer's or dealer's warranty may also back it up,
Yes! Thank you SD. I couldn't think of it no matter how I tried. šŸ¤— And as far as these vehicles having legal wiggle room vs. an as is used car, you're probably right.

My Toyota Corolla is 16 years old with 71k miles. Since I only drive 2700 miles per year it’s probably my last car. It’s never needed anything other than oil changes, tires and brakes. If something happens to it I would get another Toyota.

I'm 78 and drive a 2018 car. It's my last car. Not interested in any EV but enjoy reading the ongoing debates in the media.
I also drive a 2018 car, one that I love. But I admit a fondness for gadgets. I might be tempted by a truly self driving electric. Looks like Tesla is on the verge. If my wife outlasts me, such a vehicle would be very welcome by her.

No, with a caveat.

Still drive my 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. 102,000mi on the clock. Call it my 90,000mi truck. It basically fell apart at that mileage. Keep repairing it though. It's paid for. What I see new cars selling for, I don't see the value in buying another.

Were I forced into a situation where I had to buy, it would be IC over EV. Hybrid a possible option. Down here in the gulf coast south, buying used is a bit of a risk. So many of the used cars have either been in a flood or transported in from flood effected areas and placed on local lots.

At 80 Y.O., not certain how much longer I'll be driving. Another reason to keep the 2010 on life support. Have to show up in person at DPS to renew my DL this year. Oh, and by the way need to bring along a valid birth certificate to prove I was born in the U.S.

I lease my cars because I like to drive a new car every 30 months or so. I am driving a 2024 Honda Civic LX and it is way too young for me. Getting in and out of this low chassis car is chore, one I hope to trade to a 2024 Nissan Sentra. I’m driving a rental Sentra now and I am impressed by it’s roomy interior and low sticker price.
I will know more Wednesday as my Civic may be repaired from hitting a deer last week.

I would hunt for a clean classic car!! No need or want all of today's bells and whistles!!
The bells and whistles are a complete headache sometimes. I had to replace my rear axle. Usually you only have to do that when you have had a really bad accident or crash. But now days, there is a magnet that is built onto the axle. All of the sensors need the magnet to function properly. Since my car was 8 years old last year, the magnet was rusted from all of the salt and snow and winter weather over the years. Which sent all of my sensors to bonkers. My car is a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

I bought our 2008 Corolla new as my commuter car. About five years ago, I bought a new car and gave the Corolla away with 250,000 miles on the odometer. It's still on the road. (y)

Question ........ You mention low chassis. I have not owned a (car) in 40 years. Only trucks & motorcycles. Well, now motorcycles are out of the question, and i am considering a late model 'sportier' type car. Yes for some fun on the days I feel like it, but also because my current truck [2002 F-150] is rusting badly.

IYO, is it easier to get into/sit down in a car ? or to step up into a truck ? My truck is becoming difficult . I am considering a [last model] 2004-05 Thunderbird.
