Hi All, just came here to join the retired folk! So glad to be retired now and looking forward to becoming a part of this community.

No relation. I don't know how to see other people who joined yet. Still learning this. I can say that we're one of the retirement capitals in the world, many of my friends are battling the frigid cold temperatures up north right now. While they have 20 degree weather, we are enjoying 75 degrees and sunny!

OK Papa. sorry... it was just that within minutes of each other 2 people joined from Boca raton FL..which is quite unusual.

We have quite a few members of the forum from Florida here already , so you're among friends..

Hi Papa, retirement is great, good for you!

Hi Ndynt, nifty name. Great way to spell it. I'm sure we can help eachother learn the ropes since this is the first forum I am apart of. Are you in the South Florida area as well?? West Palm - Miami?

Sounds like a plan, Papa. Blind leading the blind, maybe :bigwink: I am in North East Florida. In a little unincorporated town, south west of Jacksonville.

Isn't that the truth;) Welcome Papa;) Glad you found us, pretty, good group, and lots to do around here:) It's always neat when new people show up, friends we haven't met yet ya know;) denise

Ndynt, Well we're doing pretty good. I must admit, I didn't see the page two at the bottom and was like no one is responding to me hahaha, saw it on my email. Silly me. I went to Asheville, NC about 3 weeks ago and drove through the city of Jacksonville (was all highway) so probably passed your town. How do you like northeast FL?

Hi NWlady, such a warm welcome. Why thank you! Everyone seems so nice so far. Was there ever a group meet up or meet virtually? (Sorry if question isn't 100% spot on)

We actually all live in the same boarding house and fight like cats and dogs, LOL!!

Well, I think there are folks that have gone and met others in person, but I don't know anyone offhand that has;) I'm going to take a trip shortly, to CA to meet a friend from here. I'm also going to look at places to live. She and her husband have lived there a long time and pretty much have sold me on the idea of living there;) denise

hahaha. Florida is the biggest competitor of Cali! It is like BMW vs Mercedes. Maybe try Florida before making a major decision. I'm not a great salesman, but Florida has many perks as well.

I like the change of seasons in this part of Florida, Papa. Especially, that though it might get chilly, there is no slush, ice or snow. Where in the north are you originally from?

I am actually a native Floridian, believe it or not. (Seems as if 90% of Florida's population is from up north.) I didn't want to stay here my entire life so only moved to Asheville for a while. The people there were so incredibly nice. I still go back frequently just due to all the nice people. South Florida people are typically rude. As an example, you can strike up a 30 minute conversation with a stranger in Asheville while South Florida, you are lucky to get a hello. Different mindsets I guess.

I joke around with my friends down here, that our seasons are very simple. Alive and dead. (Green and brown). haha. Nothing like Asheville, purples in fall, greens, yellows, orange, reds, pinks, with mountains. Just glorious.
