Nice to meet you HermitGreetings!
I just joined after observing some of the activity here for a few days. Seems like a good group of people.
I'm retired and spend my time watching movies, playing my guitar (poorly), and doing some other things... wasting time on the internet. I'm going on a little trip to Washington, D.C. in a few weeks to check out the museums and buildings. I'm 66 but have never been inside the Capital, so I'm finally getting the chance. I'll refrain from making any political comments about what goes on there. I'm into architecture and at one time, thought about becoming an architect.
That's all for now.![]()

Been there 6 times, love D.C. I can point out many adventures. If you wish to see the Federal govt.'s copy of the signed Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, do not miss the National Archives.I'm retired and spend my time watching movies, playing my guitar (poorly), and doing some other things... wasting time on the internet. Good suggestions!Been there 6 times, love D.C. I can point out many adventures. If you wish to see the Federal govt.'s copy of the signed Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, do not miss the National Archives.
You need to request a ticket from your Congressman if you wisht tour the White House.
If you wish to ride to the top of the Washington Monument, arrive early for a ticket, they go fast. Check the time the kiosk opens. From the Monument heading west, is the WW2 memorial, then the reflecting pool and the Lincoln Memorial. The Jefferson memorial is close by.
Be sure to visit the Capitol underground visitor center and the Capitol.
Have you ever heard of the Octagon, no big attraction, but worth a little time, if you can spare.
Of course, the 3 main Museums are the Air and Space, American History and the Natural history, all sided on the National Mall.
So many things to list.
If time permits drive southwest to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, he is buried there.
