New old fart

Old fart? I think we all can relate to that? Just because we are old does not lessen the impact of our gas. Some say old farts are more potent than the young farts just starting out in the world. Old farts have been around longer and more seasoned than young farts, nonetheless a fart is a fart and there is no denying the stink we raise without even trying.

Greetings!

I just joined after observing some of the activity here for a few days. Seems like a good group of people. :)

I'm retired and spend my time watching movies, playing my guitar (poorly), and doing some other things... wasting time on the internet. I'm going on a little trip to Washington, D.C. in a few weeks to check out the museums and buildings. I'm 66 but have never been inside the Capital, so I'm finally getting the chance. I'll refrain from making any political comments about what goes on there. I'm into architecture and at one time, thought about becoming an architect.

That's all for now. :)
Nice to meet you Hermit :) hope to see you around

Welcome, HH!

So glad you came around! After your trip to D.C., please consider providing a detailed report -- whether written or video. Of special interest to me, at least, will be how you survived D.C. It's full of critters, as I understand it. Some of them aren't housebroken and even more of them have this annoying tendency to want to get reelected.

Don't get me started on the bureaucrats, please. That's a special case for analysis by someone deeply immersed in studying the behaviors of swamp denizens.

Welcome, I just joined myself!

Welcome, @HermitHogan! I used to work within walking distance of the U.S. Capitol. I've lunched on the grounds but never ventured inside, something I sorely regret now. Please let us know how your venture to DC goes.

Been there 6 times, love D.C. I can point out many adventures. If you wish to see the Federal govt.'s copy of the signed Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, do not miss the National Archives.

You need to request a ticket from your Congressman if you wisht tour the White House.

If you wish to ride to the top of the Washington Monument, arrive early for a ticket, they go fast. Check the time the kiosk opens. From the Monument heading west, is the WW2 memorial, then the reflecting pool and the Lincoln Memorial. The Jefferson memorial is close by.

Be sure to visit the Capitol underground visitor center and the Capitol.

Have you ever heard of the Octagon, no big attraction, but worth a little time, if you can spare.

Of course, the 3 main Museums are the Air and Space, American History and the Natural history, all sided on the National Mall.

So many things to list. 😀

If time permits drive southwest to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, he is buried there.

Good suggestions! (y)

We saw the Constitution and Declaration of Independence last time we were there. I was surprised to see all the mistakes where they used carrots and put the correction above the mistakes. :ROFLMAO:

I'd never heard of the Octagon House before. Apparently, it's one of the most haunted buildings in D.C. Maybe we'll see that on the way to the stairs that were featured in The Exorcist for a supernatural theme. There's also a huge cathedral in that area.

There's a huge Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport, which we're going to take in on our final day. I think it's fairly new. It has one of the space shuttles, an SST, and a lot of other cool stuff. :)
