New Pampers "SMART" diapers...

I contemplated not posting this, because this sort of thing burns my rear-end something fierce (no pun intended)!

Aside from the stupidity factor, let's ban plastic drinking straws and instead, introduce diapers for babies that require even MORE plastic and wastefulness than the current disposable variety on the market!

Why?

From everything I'm seeing today, old-fashioned parenting and common-sense seems to be going by wayside!

Damn. I would never have used that. A slightly off topic thought about the "parenting" issue..a local lawyer, as part of his advertising, is offering stickers to put on the dashboard of your car, so somewhere you can see it to ReMIND you to check the back seat for baby. I think the sticker says "In the heat, check the seat". What kills me is folks will never forget their cell phone, but they WILL forget their kids.
But that is a whole new topic. And right now, just don't get me started.

You're just like me, Marie, or I'm just like you!

My blood BOILS over things such as this!

Stuff like this makes me want to go out an take hermit lessons.
I used & my children and grand kids used the same smart device to check diapers. It’s called a FINGER. If the device showed moisture it was wiped off with a tissue .

Exactly what I always did, and I knew within a country mile when my kids were wet.

Why is it necessary? The Huggies now show a blue line that only appears when the inside is wet.
When my youngest was born (1992), I recall there being a diaper that had balloons on it that faded when the diaper was wet. Even then I thought, "how absurd".

In addition to all the other things that are wrong with that idea, I don't think "reminder" stickers ever really work for long. You get so used to seeing the sticker that you just mentally filter it out.

Diapers always end up in the landfill. All the good land is being destroyed by one thing or another. If something wiped out all humans, the rest of life could recover.

I used to go to the dump all the time with my dad (1970's), and back then it was so much more different than today, because anything went when it came to disposing of no longer wanted or needed things.

Appliances, baby furniture (old cribs, playpens, highchairs), tires, kids pedal cars and toys, household furniture (couches, chairs, tables), you name it, everything piled-up and stacked-up everywhere, but the one thing that stood-out for me and that I remember most, was the heaps of disposable diapers. Even for the day there was a lot.

When I was a kid there were no disposable diapers. There were cloth diapers and diaper pails. Washing the cloth is much more environmentally friendly. This disposable society is lethal.

I did a ton of babysitting growing up, and cloth diapers and diaper pails were in use in all the homes where I sat.

I still have old leftover diapers (cotton flannelettes) from when my youngest was a baby, and he was born in 1992. I use them for most everything around the home... dusting, wiping, cleaning up spills, etc.

I agree, we live in a disposable, throwaway world.

I wonder if the disposable masks will have an environmental impact?
Everything we throw away messes it up.

When my mom was a kid she used diapers for sanitary napkins.
