New Planes in the Military (USAF)

If you are a piloting a plane, is it better to takeoff with the wind at your back or takeoff into a headwind?

What is highest (altitude) you ever flew in any plane.
52,000 ft. Yeah, I was stretching it a bit to get above a thunderstorm. It was a bumpy landing and I know we had some really nervous passengers in the back, but I felt comfortable putting the plane on the ground. I would have had to divert to Boston instead of Philadelphia and that wouldn’t have made anyone happy.

What, are you a comedian now? What makes a plane fly besides thrust? The wind over the wings, so we try to takeoff into a headwind. BTW, you still owe me for that round at the Country Club. That’s right. I didn’t forget.

You guys must be friends. I take it 911 is or was a cop?

Good one, 911. When on a carrier, the Commander wil position the boat so the planes take off into the wind. When taking off from a carrier, the pilot needs all the lift he can get.

Well, yes, we are friends. He likes to play golf and I’m a duffer, so I don’t have the skills he does. He is also stronger, so he can drive the ball further than me. I owe him $17 from our last match and he keeps bugging me about it, but if he keeps it up, I may stiff him.
