Just my opinion: given the enormity of the universe, it seems highly unlikely that Earth is the only planet to have produced so‑called intelligent life. If other life exists, they may simply have no interest in us, view us as impossibly barbaric, or find the distance far too great to make the trip.
Voyager 1 was launched in 1977 (48 years ago). Though it’s still traveling and has reached deep space, it has covered only about one light‑day. In other words, if it were moving at the speed of light, it would have taken just a single day to travel the distance it has covered in nearly half a century.
Moreover, I believe we would be wise to heed Stephen Hawking’s warning: alien arrival could resemble Columbus’s landing in America, which ended disastrously for the indigenous inhabitants. There is no way to know whether their intent would be benevolent or nefarious.
