Both episodes with all new actors will be performed in front of a live audience on the ABC network. Jimmy Kimmel came up with the idea. Apparently the racists rants of Archie Bunker and George Jefferson will not change. I am a little puzzled why anyone would do this in am era where songs by Kate Smith 90 years ago are barred. Any predictions on how this goes over with our super sensitive social crazies? Seems like someone is asking for trouble.

I heard it was just a one time 90 minute special, might be funny. :)

The way I've heard it described, sounds like it will have kind of a satirical twist, as if to say "look how far we've come from those days " ( or not?) & some good actors & comedians. Archie & the Jeffersons were also about husband & wife issues, parent & adult children issues, boss vs worker : those still inescapable social issues. I'll at least try to watch. Whether I can stay till the end, who knows?

I really don't like when classics are redone. I cannot understand why Hollywood remakes classic movies, when those movies fail, more often than succeed, at the box office. The thought of seeing a different Archie Bunker and George Jefferson doesn't cut it, for me, plus, I never really liked their expressed racist views on their respective shows. All in all, a dumb idea, these new versions, for me.

The Jeffersons' Jamie Foxx as George Jefferson,Wanda Sykes as his wife'Weezy',Will Ferrell plays neighbor'Tom',Justina Machado, maid'Florence'
I'll take a pass,not interested Sue

I can't imagine they will be as good as the originals; copies rarely are.

People should remember the situations were satirical, actually poking fun at the ignorant for being racist.

I think today, many people have lost the ability to appreciate or even recognize, satire. In the face of today's violence, it may be no wonder.

Agreed. Peter Sellers was funny as Inspector Cluesoe but the very funny Steve Martin was far from funny when he attempted the role. Michael Richards was great on Seinfeld as Kramer but flopped at the other two series he co-starred in. "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

Yay Radish Rose! That's what I was trying to say about satire. Will Ferrell & Wanda Sykes should be hilarious!
And I agree with Tommy on the lack of writing talent. So much stale dialog & plots even in the popular ones.

I feel the same way. The remakes are never as good as the originals -- and putting new people in classic roles is just stupid and never works, IMHO.

I recognize only a few of these names but Will Ferrel is usually very funny. I'd like to see it, but I don't have cable, only internet streaming. At some point, it will be streamed.

 Streaming? Cable?

Whoa. Where are people getting the idea that these shows will be on cable?

According to the commercials being run and also other information, both shows will be broadcast live in the ABC network one time on May 22.

Where I live, the only way I can view ABC NBC or CBS live, is through a pay-for service like cable. After the live airing, if they make it available a little later, I can stream it thru my Roku into my TV (or laptop) from ABC or YouTube.
