Susan you live not too far from where we stay during the winter - Koh Samui, Thailand. Different culture though as its Buddhist.

Koh Samui is a beautiful island although I have not been there. Penang is a foodie paradise with a more colourful mix of cuisine available than in Thailand. Do visit us sometime.
