No better after 3 doctor visits

I went to my primary doctor and 2 specialists for my mild to moderate intermittent abdominal/pelvic pain. It's 4 weeks now with this going on and nobody seems to be able to treat it. My primary doctor is trying Nexium which hasn't made any difference so far. The other 2 docs ruled out urinary and reproductive system issues (maybe). Now I'm not sure what to do - going to the ER seems like overkill for such a minor problem and even if I do, would they be able to find the problem or just put me back on the doctor-go-round. One issue I have is I can't put the symptoms into any consistent character or pattern - sometime it's sharp, sometimes it's dull, sometimes is in the lower pelvic area, sometimes it's in the lower right quadrant and sometimes just below my breastbone. Sometimes I don't have any pain. Any advice?

Hi de,

any progress? I have had some complications from a surgery, and was back in ER yesterday. They seem to be eliminating a lot of things, which I know is good, but I understand how frustrating it is not to mention "life-threatening" something might be. Let us know how it's going for you, people do care here, Denise:love_heart: PS I'm just sorry I didn't see your post earlier.

Debodun, I'm with Bonnie here. You need a colonoscopy. Seven years ago, I spent a year with the same symptoms that you described. After several doctors, finally one sent me to get a colonoscopy, then I was rushed into surgery for reconstructive surgery. I had Diverticulitis. They had to remove 1/3 of my colon and intestines. I came close to during because it took so long to get a correct diagnosis.
Last year I thought the condition had returned, but because the first time around had cost so much financially, my current doctor explained that with a written request from a doctor, I could go to a testing center and get the test for a fraction of the cost, as opposed to testing in a hospital.
This time, I was happy to hear that I just had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which can be controlled with diet.
You need to find out what condition you have before it gets out of hand like it did for me. :praying:

You can try to take some good probiotic for a week or two and see if that helps, maybe it's just a digestive issue. Do you think it could be gas pains? Activated Charcoal capsules will help to absorb the gas if that's the case. They can't be taken all the time though, because they will also absorb any vitamins or medications you're taking. Sorry to hear you don't feel any better, hope things change soon. :love_heart:

Also, the worst intestinal problems I ever had were caused from Sweet and Low (sacharin). There are so many things it could be, I'm so sorry, you are suffering, but sometimes it's about process of elimination in finding what the problem "isn't". Have you tried some 5 cultured yogurt? It's said to eliminate bad bacterias I think it is?? I'm not giving any advice, not qualified to do that, but these are things I've used with pains as you describe them. But in mine, they did turn out to be minor adjustments fixed them.

Hi there,
I am sorry for what you are going through. Trust me, I CAN relate!! Most of my pain (and it is truly REAL) is caused from stress... also, when I cut back on grains (and ALL wheat) many of my problems cleared up...no more ibs. Denise has some good ideas. Try yogurt, plus a GOOD probiotic (like PB8) and this, too, should make a difference. Good luck to you!
