No Wonder I don't Sell Much

I have no complaints about IKEA, in fact, it’s very comfortable, especially the bedding.
Has anyone tried Wayfair? I’m think about giving that a go.
I don't like Ikea Soft furnishing..curtains, bedding etc.. I find it lacks quality.. that's just my own opinion.... as for Wayfair..it may well be different in the USA.. but here in the UK.. I used to use them because they were affordable without being ''cheap'.. now prices on Wayfair have gone considerably higher for items I can buy elsewhere for a much lower price.

If I want bespoke items, I buy from Etsy..

When people are giving away things like this:

I've given away many things for free that are much higher quality, better shape and more expensive than that.

I agree with @NorthernLight , so much easier and much more satisfying. I've been taking long walks lately through my neighborhood, and many folks give away items in perfect condition for free, I give those people credit.

They make someone else happy with items they no longer have use for, and the reward is much higher than a couple of bucks. Giving feels good, try it sometime.

Depends on the area you live in. If there are mainly older people, like us, they are all downsizing. I know you were hoping to sell a lot, but if it is stuff from your moms generation, may not be the taste of younger people.
From pictures, you have nice things, but I found when I moved that it was hard for me to sell stuff too Ended up giving a lot away to people who were helping me move, or just trashing it. I was downsizing from the house to this apartment.
I know selling it was a hope of yours, and I am sorry it has not worked out for you.

I haven't bought anything from Wayfair lately, but a few years ago I bought a really nice leather recliner from them for my aunt. She passed away, and I kept the recliner.

When I get to the next place, I hire a decorator and give them a budget to stick to. The decorator will ask me if I have a favorite brand name. I used to know something about good furniture, so I always preferred Pennsylvania House and Thomasville. Today, there are so many brands and much of it is made in China, I usually tell the decorator to do the best job, but don’t cut corners. I have very high clientele that come to my home, I don’t want them sitting on a Bassett chair or sofa.

I'm always amazed at what charity shops won't take . For example, when I wanted to change the sideboard for a newer model.. I offered the older one to the charity shops.. what a load of hoops I had to jump through. Send photos by email.. show any scratches, any broken parts.. and so on.. there was no damage at all.. but they finally said they couldn't take it '' because people don't want dark wood''..

I was astounded, it was a top quality piece of furniture, albeit a little old style.. and I just wonder how many customers who had nothing would have turned it down...

I put it out at the end of the drive.. with a ''Free to take away'' sign.. and it went very quickly.. in fact the man who knocked the door was so astounded, he knocked first to ensure it was definitely for free..

They turned up their nose at that, @hollydolly ?! That's beautiful! I would have that in my home!

Years ago, When I did my uncle's estate, I got a nice heavy knotty pine end table from it. I started out at $50 and nary a nibble, so I reduced iy to $25 and no interest, then to $10, then $5 and not one inquiry. I finally put it up for free and got 20 responses. I told the guy that finally came and got it what had happened and he said he wasn't surprised since he only looks at the free stuff.
When you don't really need it, and are just looking to make money, and use terms like "nary a nibble" you show your intent and it is not very desirable. If you have that attitude and lack of respect for those who may want to own the items, I'm surprised you offload anything you have lying around.

yes they did CS... like I said , they made me jump through hoops just for them to consider it, then turned it down. Not just one Charity shop but 2.. and so I thought well if they won't have it..I'll give it away for free.. but I was pretty miffed about their refusal to take it.. ..especially when I see the cheap and tacky furniture they do sell.. in the name of modern style

Did you take a good look at the items? If I were into refinishing, it would make a good project, but as it sits now, do you really believe someone would want to display those items in their home?
"but as it sits now, do you really believe someone would want to display those items in their home?"

If they needed or wanted a mirror but didn't have funds to buy one, and needed a small table to use as an end table and a rack to hang towels on, a bookcase that can be used as such or hold other items and a lamp then YES. Perhaps they are far more concerned with utility and cost then what those who can afford to buy new.

@hollydolly I think the charity shops were just hoping you’d say no to all the nonsense requests so they wouldn’t have to make up an excuse. They are just too lazy to come pick it up.

Now he's trying to trade headphones.

He doesn't even write correctly. When he says "my mother is pregnant and is getting very hot" makes it sounds like his mom is hot. :ROFLMAO:
Instead of ridicule you could be compassionate since you don't do trades. Obviously you have his email tell him to try selling his boxing gloves & headphones . You could also tell him you will advise him if the A/C sells before he can get the amount you are asking.

I probably should have responded, "If the boxing gloves are so valuable, why don't you sell them, then you'd have the money for the AC?"
