Normal habits you have that others think are weird .. do you have any ?

I like double stuff Oreo's. I eat the 'stuff' first, then the cookie.
That sounds perfectly normal to me.

I licked the cream out of my Hostess chocolate cupcakes before eating the cake. That was before they started stuffing them with that gross white oily substance instead of actual cream, though. We had a few specific names for that goopy pith.

I play alarm clock 'bingo'. If I wake up, I look at my digital alarm clock (24 hour) and award myself points for interesting numbers. Best is 01:23 but ones like 11:11, 22:22, 23:45 etc are all good too.

Another game we play is "Boat or no boat?" When we drive to Macduff, there is a point where we overlook an area where ships (mainly oil rig supply vessels) anchor. As we approach that spot, we say,"Boat or no boat?". Extra points for guessing the number and colour of any anchored ship(s) and points mean prizes. What do points mean? Prizes! You need to be British and of a certain age to understand that one.

re: Remy's post #16 The #4 is unlucky in Chinese - 4 has the same phonetic sound as "death".
I was watching a House Hunters episode on HGTV. A young Asian woman was looking for a condo with her mother along. They refused to look at any that had the #4 in the number in any way or was on the 4th floor. That's when I found out about that.

And I remember realizing 'OK it's not just me then.'

I have for years done word games in my head when I could not fall asleep.
Words that ryhme, words that have the same last syllable, list all the characters from a TV show, Downton Abbey for example.

The newest one is saying all the names of members here in alphabetical order. Odd as it sounds, it has been a great way to make me relax and drift off to sleep.

I don't think it sounds odd at all..I do similar things when trying to get to sleep... sometimes I try to remember in detail what I did all day from the time I got up.. it's so tedious it gets me off to sleep fast..

Luck you don't live in Canada then ... there is no penny in Canadian currency ;)
.but she'd be twice as lucky if she lived in the UK, plenty of Pennies here :D altho' for how much longer given how fast we're going cashless, is anyone's guess...

Because it costs more to produce a penny than it's monetary value, they just did away with them. As you point out, transactions now are primarily cashless and those still calculate to the penny now but cash transactions round up or down to the nearest 5 cents which is the smallest denomination hard cash currency now in Canada.

The change caused some concern when first introduced but no one even mentions it now.

I'm a bit hung up on symmetry and visual balance. Like, when I make the bed and the coverlet is striped, the stripes have to run perfectly along the edges, and if 4 inches of the blanket hangs from underneath at the top, I make sure there's 4 inches showing all the way around. Some of my friends and family say I have a mild case of OCD. I don't think so. I just like things to look nice and neat.
Oh gawd, me too. I run back and forth to make sure that darn blanket/sheet (both) is hanging even on the other side of the bed. It gets really tiring lol.. 🥱

I suppose 2 things are going on there...I used to paint landscapes, figures, portraits, and still-life's. Especially when painting portraits and figures, you have to focus on symmetry - you don't want one arm to look longer than the other, a lopsided head, or disproportionate hands - and balance is important for a painting's overall appeal.
nah ya just rationalizing non-rational behaviors now!!
