Not just carjacking(s) anymore...be careful what you wear...

I'd almost like to be car-jacked, just so I could see the disappointed look on their faces.
One time, we had parked our car further away from the busy plaza and walked to our destination (we liked to walk). When we returned, we saw that someone had tried opening the window and there was a crack in the window. When the police came, we asked them why someone would do that (our car was not expensive - a Toyota) and they said, that they probably saw the bag in the back seat (it was empty, lol). So after that, I never leave bags or anything of value in sight in the car when I leave it.

I actually dress down these days.
If you dress like you’re worth a million bucks, people will think you’re loaded and try and rob you.

The other day I walked into my bank. Something I haven’t done in years. As soon as I got in my car, I had a text apparently from my bank claiming my account was under $100 and instantly needed my attention.

Of course I deleted it but that just shows you that people can scan your card and get to you. Just don’t respond. It’s a S-c-a-m!!!

In Spain , one of the beaches about 15 minutes drive from my house, has high rise apartments, overlooking the beach and the parking area for the beach.

Holiday makers drive there, and take their valuables and put them in the boot (trunk).. all the time unknown to them, they're being watched by a certain faction of thieves ( not Spanish)... so when they go off happily to the beach carrying their loungers etc.. the thieves go down and smash open the rear passenger window, to gain access to the boot.. and the items there-in...and straight back up to their apartment in about 5 minutes flat Horrendous..

Way back in the 70s, I used to live in NYC. On the way to work in the morning, there might be a disabled car on the side of the highway. On the way, home, all that was left was the frame of the car. The engine, seats, dash -everything but the frame, which wouldn't fit into the trunk was gone. There was this bad accident. A car full of people had crashed, the dead were falling out the driver's door, and people were stealing the mag wheels. So, I don't think theft and robbery was newly invented.
