Not the first day of the rest of my life, instead an ordinary venture of an ordinary day

I was dissatisfied with results of left eye cataract removal so I have an appointment with the eye doctor to ensure I want to continue with cataract removal for right eye. The legislature underhandedly tried to change insurance plans and coverage by taking away Medicare and replacing with United Health Care proxy to privatize Medicare. In doing so, private health care insurances will control who you see, when you see and whether or not treatment will be performed based on the greedy assumption that retirees don't matter compared to the predicted savings of HMO.

Pick up my hearing aides today from having them repaired.

Tomorrow is cataract surgery for my right eye.

I am looking for a home for Charle. His presence causes a great deal of chaos and tension throughout my family, plus with ongoing medical appointments and procedures he would be better off with someone to care for him in ways I cannot.

Cataract removal has results that are frequently unexpected. Many often wrongly think it will return their sight to what it was before. Unfortunately, this is incorrect. In many cases you may see better close up or at long distance depending on the lens your doctor replaced the clouded lens with. Usually you have a choice. And sometimes you can choose a lens that improves both close up and distance vision. But, when choosing that one it sometimes fails to improve either.

Also, your eyes will tend to dry out or become blurry when reading or watching TV, or when using your eyes intensively for any reason thereafter. To remedy that you will be experimenting with eye drops for quite a while until you find something that suits you. It can be quite frustrating for some. Good luck.

Who or what is Charlie ??

Here in Ontario cataract surgery is free, under the universal Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan. No costs at all, except for the parking at the hospital. My Wife dropped me off and came back later to pick me up. Had the second eye done 3 weeks later. The surgeon who did my eyes trains other Doctors from all over the world at Toronto's Western Hospital. He has about 10,000 procedures under his belt in a 40 year career.

I could choose from ANY Doctor, at ANY hospital in the Province. That is what universal health care is all about. No fighting with faceless nameless insurance company clerks about what is covered or isn't covered. Here in Canada, Doctors are able to actually practice medicine, not act as bill collectors for insurance companies. They bill the Provincial Ministry of Health for their services, at an agreed upon annual rate schedule. They get paid sixty days later. Most Doctors in Canada have an office secretary, but no billing clerks. They don't need them.

From the day that I was diagnosed, to the day of my first procedure was 4 weeks.
