Not trying to be controversial (female boxer with XY chromosome)

I’m not at all familiar with boxing but it seems to me that if two people in the same weight class are fit and well trained what they have between their ears would be more important than what they have between their legs. 🤔
No. What they have between their legs is more important. That is why there are rules.

IMO this has more to do with how uncomfortable and unfamiliar we are with gender reassignment.

It will all be messy and perhaps unfair until we identify and address all of the consequences and changes that come with it.
IMO this has more to do with contempt for tradition/history, personal lack of morals and ethics and respect for fair play, and common decency --all of which are seriously MIA today.

I don’t know why women want to box, but as timoc said, it should probably be three categories now: Men, women, and transitional. How to judge who belongs where? Science. Take their hormone levels and place them according to the science of that.

Oh I know some people will hate me for saying that, but this is physical fighting and truly, someone could get killed with one blow. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.
well fighting as a sport has been going on since Noah was a boy....

If all biological female athlets would not participate in matches with people with XY chromosomes, this would come to an end soon. But they are eager to win and yet come off a loser. Politics will not change the situation. The women must do it.

That's the only recourse at present for biological women but it is So Wrong. Training starts when these women were girls. Their parents and they made sacrifices for development of their athletic abilities for years. There is a chronological age at which an athlete is at peak. For a woman to have given so many years to her sport only to say "I won't compete" at her peak with biological men in an event such as the Olympics that comes around every four years is not an acceptable solution.

Men are always pushing the responsibility on women. Man up and do the right thing. Men fighting women is just wrong. She trained all her life to compete and they stick her with some guy who wants a medal? Foul!

A second one today....

Lin Yu-Ting's controversial Olympic bout sparked fury today after the boxer who previously failed a gender test unanimously beat her opponent and reduced her to tears.

Critics slammed the decision to let the Taiwanese fighter compete in the women's boxing match as 'unfair, unsafe and wrong'.

The row comes just one day after Algeria's Imane Khelif beat Angela Carini in a clash lasting just 46 seconds, leaving the Italian boxer with a suspected broken nose.

Carini barely threw a punch before telling her corner 'it's not fair' and then abandoning the match 'for her own safety'.

Today two-time world champion Yu-Ting needed the full three rounds to beat Uzbekistan's Sitora Turdibekova but the decision to allow the fight to go ahead in the first place sparked fury from women's rights activists and other athletes.

Sex Matters' Maya Forstater reacted with outraged emojis to a video of the conclusion of the bout, where a commentator quips 'job done'.

Former elite marathon runner and two-time Olympian Mara Yamauchi further slated the fight on X, saying 'shame on the IOC for allowing this'.

Jonathan Campbell said: 'Use your brain... if another woman tested high on testosterone they would of been disqualified because of unfair advantage.

'That's why this person shouldn't be boxing another woman that doesn't have that advantage.'

Another user said: 'It is a ludicrous, completely unfair and dangerous state of affairs, surely common sense must prevail soon.'

One user added: 'This is beyond absurd.'

'Lin Yu Ting was banned from the 2023 women's boxing World Championship for having XY chromosomes.'

Lin was registered female at birth, New Taipei City Councilor Cho Kuan-ting said in a Facebook post on Wednesday, explaining how her national identification number begins with a '2,' the designation for females, while males are assigned a '1.' The number cannot be altered, according to Hsinchu City Government.

However the clash today sparked controversy on the basis that Lin failed a gender eligibility test at last year's World Championships.

Lin - who has come into the Olympics as the top seed - lost her bronze medal after she failed to meet the International Boxing Association's unspecified eligibility criteria.

For me, a more important question than why would women want to box is why are these biological men choosing to fight women? They feel they couldn't defeat a man opponent? And since the topic is Olympics, let's talk about a champion gold medal winner from the past... I can't even *imagine* Caitlyn Jenner choosing to compete against women in a sport of strength. She wouldn't. There are lines that would not be crossed. The world knows and accepts that she's no longer Bruce... but she wouldn't cross those lines.
From what I have read and heard during interviews, Caitlyn Jenner has a very balanced and sensible view on these matters and, I agree, I couldn't imagine her supporting this.

How to judge who belongs where? Science. Take their hormone levels and place them according to the science of that.

It's more complicated than hormone levels. Males who undergo puberty as males then transition with hormones later still have greater physical advantage over most biological women including bone development, lung capacity etc.

Men are always pushing the responsibility on women. Man up and do the right thing. Men fighting women is just wrong. She trained all her life to compete and they stick her with some guy who wants a medal? Foul!
That's not the point. I'm on the women's side, but the man of the IOC who is responsible is not. Thus lamenting that men are always pushing responsibility on women will change nothing. The female athletes MUST stand together. If they don't do this, they'll lose.
On Saturday at 5:22 pm DST in Middle Europe (Paris included) you can watch how the Algerian athlete fights against the Hungarian woman Luca Anna Hamori.

From reading the article linked, there is no evidence that Khelif was trans-gender. Women have some testosterone just as men have some estrogen.
However as mentioned in the article:
"In March 2023, the International Boxing Association (IBA) found Khelif and Yu-ting failed the eligibility criteria to participate in the women's competition and disqualified them from the year's World Championships.
Without revealing details, they concluded that "both athletes did not meet the required necessary eligibility criteria and were found to have competitive advantages over other female competitors".
Some sports have limited the levels of testosterone allowed for athletes competing in women's competition, while others ban everyone who has been through male puberty.
However, the IBA noted that the athletes "did not undergo a testosterone examination" and were instead subjected to separated and recognised testing."

Further:
"The IOC said the IBA decision to disqualify the boxers last year was arbitrary and the main cause for the furor that has seen people like British author JK Rowling and billionaire Elon Musk voice their opposition to them competing in the Games."

I think the IOC is going to suffer from sponsorships after this year. If women stops buying the items sponsored, that may get their attention. Women have a lot of power at the grocery store. This crap must stop.

I had heard one of the sportscasters say on tv that Khelif wanted to win a gold medal at all costs. I heard it, but not sure who said it.

Wow! It was bad enough when I was in high school and realized the gymnast I dated for a while could probably beat me up. Gals like your daughter could have trashed me. Brookswood, RIP, Killed on date with MarySue, by Mary Sue.

I am going to retract my previous comments. It seems that this one individual is part of a small group of people who unusual hormone situations compared to most of us. I don't know what that means. But, it seems that the powers-that-be need to figure this out.

Individuals having two X chromosomes (XX) are female; individuals having one X chromosome and one Y chromosome are male.

It's that simple.
Truly it is that simple. Why is it being made so hard deliberately?

he wouldn't get charged with murder.. at very worst it would be accidental death..manslaughter.. maybe.. but probably not charged with anything at all because it would have happened as an accident while taking part in a sport..

This is one of the main reasons this nonsense of men acting as women in sport competing against women should be stopped immediately..
I agree.
