Thank you Davey. I am in the process of making up an album for the family only. Been adding to it for years. Again, thank you your kind words. Pappy

As mentioned before, I saw a new back doctor today. He spent quite a long time with me and gave me some encouragement. He gave me a new drug to try until I get a MRA of my back and then we will see about getting some shots in my back. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

A very beautiful day here but still a bit warm. High of 90 but humidity was down some. Later: Pappy.

Thelma’s waiting for the visiting nurse to have her annual checkup required by our healthcare plan. The do a nice exam and then a week or so, they send a $50 gift card. I guess we could call this working from home.

Im due for my 6 weeks toenail clipping at the VA clinic today at 3 pm. Not looking forward to this one because they cancelled my last appointment so it’s been awhile. My nice white socks will turn a little red by the time I get back.

Went out to put up my flag this morning and counted four pickup trucks across the street. I think our new neighbors are having some work done inside. It’s the third day they’ve been over there. Makes a little difficult to back my car out of my driveway, but it’s only temporary so no big deal.

Just another day in the Pappy household. Later….

you must be about 86 now Sir - how's it feel ? - I'm 80 and still feel like a 16 yr old in my mind but not the body - draggin that around now from being a weekly squash player!

You know Davey, I feel the same way as you do. So young in my heart and mind, but body is slowly giving up. Arthritis is taking its toll and it hurts to do almost anything anymore. I do miss the things I did a few years ago. Bike riding, walking at least 5000 steps a day, doing little things around the house that need fixing,

I will never preach to anyone on here, but God has helped me more than all the doctors in the world. He helps keep me young and hopeful and what more could anyone want?

I will be 86 in November. My dad live to 102 and my dads mom lived to 95.

I'd try investing in a self-trainer if you can afford it - I still insist on walkin the dog each morning and he absolutely loves it even though we keep using the same route. He loves the smells and hunting for titbits - a physio guy suggested some exercises and another gave me some matchstick pics - stand by the kitchen sink and bending 25 times or more - soul destroying - rather be out in the woods!! I know I spend too much time on the internet and hate housework. We just gotta keep movin laddo it's that simple - got any mates to walk with?? hahahah

My Da was a life smoker and loved sweet things - and Ma loved baking him a cream and jam cake - he died at 68 and then Ma stayed alone for some while - met another man eventually and died 20 year later. sometimes life can be cruel it seems?

The hurricane news is good for us but not for our northern friends in Florida. It is a bad hurricane and is expected to cause much damage. My prayers are with you all.

And, there are two more hurricanes out there ready to pounce on us. It’s the season..💨
I have been watching it most of the day. I have so many friends there and keeping them in my prayers too. It didn't look good for St. Petersburg (where I used to live) and Tampa just a bit ago. I hope you are safe where you are.

Pappy so many have mentioned your avatar pic i wonder if it has changed over the threads or still the same? anyhow who is that rather attractive female all in white next to you - one of your daughters perhaps? - and is that a trimmed mo you are sporting on your top lip? it makes you look like a cuban overlord - do you like cigars perchance that would complete the pic!!

I sincerely hope he can help you with that. It’s hard to enjoy life with any type of serious pain and back pain sure can be one of them.
Hopefully this will all work for you and you’ll soon be feeling better.

That is my beautiful daughter Suzanne on her graduation day. She takes good care of her dad as she is a registered nurse.
I dressed pretty slick back then. Always wore a white belt with some pretty crazy pants. Never got into cigars much, cigarettes were my vice. Picture was in the 60s, maybe early 70s.

Pappy , must have been the 70's, because if I remember rightly your DD is around my age.. so she would have been graduating in the 70's...(y)

I’m due for an MRI on Sept. 5 which should help doctor determine what is going on. Thanks for your concern Patty.

It’s been pretty quiet around here the past few days. I’ve been keeping our UPS and Prime drivers busy delivering packages to our house.
Our new neighbors across the street have been busy gutting their interior and fixing it up to the way they want it. It’s fun to see what truck is coming each day.
My COPD has been flaring up the last few nights. Last night I woke up about 1:30 trying to catch my breath. Scary as hell when this happens. I got up and took a breathing treatment which seemed to help. I haven’t had this for a long time and I hope I can treat here at home rather than going to the emergency room again.
Next Tuesday we are going to get our flu shots at CVS drug store. The following Wednesday I am going for MRI on my back to see if there is a treatment the doctor can use.

Until next time…Pappy

After a very uneventful week, yesterday was a busy.day. Cleaned our wood floors and did some dusting. At 3 pm we went to CVS and had our flu shots. I ask the pharmacist about getting a Covid booster and he said wait a month as there is a new type coming out soon. I hadn’t heard anything about it so guess we will wait and see.

Got home about 4:30 and I suggested that we go out for supper. We ended up at Rooneys where I had liver and onions. Worst liver I’ve ever had. Tough, dry and no taste. Very disappointed but they offered me 50% off on my next meal there.

Next week I have an MRI on my back Wednesday and an echo on my heart Friday. Heart doctor keeping a close eye on my a-fib and some congestion. By the time all these doctors figure out what’s going on. I’ll be dead of old age…:)

You all have a great day..Pappy

Pappys Living the Dream Diary..Well Kinda

Tomorrow, Monday, is my semi-annual CT scan for a aortic anorism. Not too much to it but the dye they put in me makes me feel like I'm going to pee my pants. Oh, who cares. I'm pushing 77 and have a good excuse, right. I have been lucky that it hasn't enlarged over the years but aways get a little concerned waiting for results. If it reaches 5 centimeters, it means open heart surgery.

Today was was a very quiet day. Had breakfast with some good friends that came to Florida from my hometown, Norwich, NY. My neighbor, who is from England, pronounces it Norich. She said there is a Norwich in England.

Watched some football today, but did a lot of reading. It was in the low sixties and a bit cool and too windy for any bike riding. It's about 7:00 so guess I'll turn on the Telly and see what garbage is on tonight.

LATER ALL.
Very good. I liked your diary.

Today was a busy day in the Pappy household. Went for my MRI this morning and didn’t realize it would take 1/2 hour of pounding, thumping, banging and just making out of this world noises. It was open as I requested but it wasn’t comfortable at all laying there for so long.

I had a clicker thingy in my hand which would have stopped the procedure if needed. I felt like a contestant on Jeopardy. They also put on earmuffs and played 50s music for me. 40 or so years ago, they tried putting me in the little tube MRI and I clicked that clicker after about 2 minutes in there. Get me the hell outta here people
Anyway, should know results Monday when I see doctor again. Oh, and on the way home, I stopped and got my haircut.

“And that’s the way it is.”
Pappy Cronkite..
