Some years back, I was working on a tanker that was under contract to the Navy. We were carrying high-grade jet fuel and enroute to discharge in Singapore. About 12-hours before hitting the dock, the captain called a crew meeting.

We gathered in the officer's mess and the Old Man handed out some papers. ' These are things that are against the law in Singapore. Get caught breaking any one of 'em, and you'll go to jail. This ship ain't waiting on you and you're on your own."

The list had about 75 or so infractions. I remember that chewing gum in public was one and exiting a cab into traffic was another. We were good. The entire crew sailed with the vessel.
