Of all the things we have lost 'items' in our lifetimes~

This thread is about things, and also can be about family, friends,
other things of importance..

In our lives, we have misplaced, permanently lost things that have never
resurfaced again and seem gone forever. No matter how they were lost, we
would like them back...

Name three of those things that if it could be, you would like to have

reappear and or found once again today.

I lost a couple of boxes of 'keepsake' photos some years ago...
They were not secured as needed while being driven from one location to
another. The vehicle took a turn and a hill, and the weather was windy and rainy
the box lids flew off and the photos flew everywhere way, were gone forever.
Traffic was moving steadily, could not retrieve them.

A special ruby ring from my grandmother. Misplaced/lost/stolen, not sure.

A book, one that held meaning and memory for me, because of what it was
about, its history linked to me, stories included, and tiny little unforgettable
personal comments and quotes, all from the hearts of others. I was broken
into once long ago where I lived.

One "real" answer, and one not so real... my real answer is that I somehow lost a box of slides my dad let me borrow from his Army days during the Korean conflict.
And my other answer is an old saying I always think of when the subject of "losing" something comes up... "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." 🤷‍♀️

I lost a cassette tape I recorded when practicing with "Cashmere". Sheryl Crow was singing and playing key board on it before she became famous. I have always wondered how much it would be worth a few years back. $10,000? :)
probably worth even more :)

I didn't lose this item, it was stolen when my house was broken into but when I was 14, I had a favorite ring of ruby and opal which I wore everyday. I didn't lose people either but my favorite grandmother died when I was in my twenties and I miss her to this day. And my father. He died also far too young. I would love to have all of them back, but mostly Gran and dad.

We were moving out, they were moving in and impatiently waiting while I got the last of my stuff out. I missed three baskets on a kitchen shelf and one held my grandma's wedding ring. I went back for it and they said the baskets were not there.

I got even though, knew where the louse worked and knew some men that worked there. A nice story about a thief was told.

My high school class ring. It cost $39 in 1964-about $240 today. I had a parttime job and paid for it myself. I got it at 2:30 in school, and at 3, I got into a snowball fight on the way home. When I looked at my hand, the ring was gone-somewhere in a snowy field.
