Oh to be young and fit again like this!

Hi folks, I just found this video and it is so amazing, I had to share it! The man is so incredibly fit that he is beautiful to watch as he works out. Makes me wish I was young again so that I could work at working out like he does, not that I could ever get to that level, but seriously, watch and pine for your lost youth! So next time somebody tells you vegans are weak and wimpy....don't believe it. Well, I guess there are exceptions but you know what I mean. Enjoy!

I'll bet Ameriscot that you'll appreciate his level of fitness!

Genetics is indeed kind to a few vegans as well as carnivores.

Medrano was a carnivore for the first 30 years of his life and has only been a vegan for about 3 years.

Being vegan shouldn't have anything to do with it. You can get plenty of protein as a vegan. Bodybuilders need extra protein, but those of us who aren't trying for bulging muscles can just have the normal amount of protein.

And he's still beautiful to watch isn't he and obviously hasn't lost anything because of dietary changes.

This lady is my daughter and she's been a vegan for ten years. Not the greatest photo (selfies often aren't as well composed are they?) but still you can see, no wimpy vegan here either. And with reference to what you said Ameriscot, my daughter actually has one of those long, skinny physiques that doesn't bulk up, but I think she still looks pretty good.

I was vegan for 6 months then vegetarian for 10 years.

It is extremely hard for females to get bulging muscles.

Well apparently there is a system to it and it's this: You eat real healthy and more calories than usual (so you actually get a little pudgy) all the while working out but little cardio because you don't want to loose that weight. Then after several months of this, you switch up your regimen exercise-wise and cut back to a really clean diet to loose the layer of fat. The photo of my daughter was taken a while ago (two years I think) and that was her pre-pudgy look. Since the pudgy phase, she's trimmed right down, is very lean and a lot bulkier in her muscles.

We used to have a home gym set up plus free weights and while I never had the same kind of focus (she LOVES the whole gym scene), I was doing pretty good. I used to razz her that I had better biceps than her and didn't have to work as hard. I've got a different physiology I guess and she takes after her dad who was a skinny guy all his life. But she's gone way beyond where I was at my peak.

I love the look, but find it a lot easier these days to not work that hard. Million excuses mostly starting with 'I don't feel like it today':D

Do it! I feel fantastic with tons of stamina.

I know what you mean about the stamina. I had a weird phase early in the spring that lasted about five months. I actually felt frail which was really bizarre to me because I've always been strong you know. Walking was tiring, up the little slope in the horse pasture and I almost wanted to stop and rest half way and mentally it seemed to make me feel like I wanted just give up and hang my hat on the 'your almost 60' excuse. And that was even with making a point of working out and doing yoga through the winter.

Then all of a sudden, I started feeling good (no change in routines, just in me and my outlook). Since then I've found that when I make a point of hitting the weights and the intensive routine that I've discovered, on a more regular basis (like every other day) I do feel tremendous!

I think one difference that affects women who are aging (but still staying fit) and men in the same situation, is that due to the hormonal changes, our skin loosens up a lot more. Like that 78 year old guy that I linked to, my skin doesn't look like his at all. The only thing I can think of is the hormones. What do you think?

I don't know if I'd blame it on hormones. I think our skin just loses elasticity with age and there's nothing we can do about (except surgery). I've got tons of muscle in my arms, but the batwings don't go away. Loose skin. Also loose skin around my armpits. The skin around my middle has tightened up finally but not totally. And I do serious muscle work - about 4.5 hours a week. 2.5 hours cardio.

My husband is 66 and his skin isn't flabby at all. Not fair!

' I've got tons of muscle in my arms, but the batwings don't go away.' You know what helps that issue for me (at least so far). Every time I shower I do 30 full body push ups. Now I'm not going all the way down because I have a bad shoulder that makes the most awful 'clunk' every time, but I go down as far as I can and back up and do it fast. Triceps look great with that. Plus the intensive workout gives you a tricep work out too. Here's the link to the one I found online. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/the-scientific-7-minute-workout/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=2

While this is called the 7 minute workout, I do each movement until I just can't anymore but only because I'm too cheap to by a stopwatch or a new clock to time myself. You've got #3, #7 and #8 which are going to work that jiggly area and build up that muscle. Plus the pre-shower push ups whenever you're not doing the intensive program and I'll bet you'd find a really positive change.

Pre-shower I also do 30 deep squats as well as the push ups and that works the glutes. If you decide to try it, let me know how it works out for you okay. I'd love to know what you experience with it.

The fact that you're saying that your husband hasn't got any loose skin and then keeping in mind that 78 years old body builder, I'm inclined to think men have one over on us in this regard.

I've done tons of research on how to get rid of batwings. Surgery is the only way at our age - would tighten up if I was 30. I do lots of work on biceps, triceps, shoulders and it just isn't going suck up the loose skin no matter what. They aren't really bad, but I'd love them tighter. I do the gym 3 days a week, and at home I've got full sets of dumbbells, ankle weights (for thighs and butt), do abs, lunges, squats, everything. There isn't a muscle I don't work. I have results in my butt and very strong thighs although the inner thigh flab will never totally disappear.

Yea, I guess the men's abundance of testosterone makes a huge difference.

Oh, and I will be wearing a bikini on our upcoming trip. (although I still have 5 pounds to lose).

Well sounds like you're doing everything right, I guess you just got lucky on the 'batwings' eh? Well, you know what to put on your Christmas wish list now! As for the bikini, well if you're wearing a bikini then I'd say you're doing pretty darn good!

You'll be one of those people who will have everybody saying how surprised they are to hear that you suddenly dropped dead! They'll all be saying , 'but she looked so young!"

Well, I'm hoping for another 20 years at least!
