I really miss this in a way. When I was growing up we had a two man local news station. One anchor reported the news and sports. The other was a meteorologist. He did the weather. That's all. What more is necessary? It was much less stressful than news 24/7 with everyone telling you what you should think.

Yeah. I truly miss those days. There was a sense of purpose-to accurately tell what happened. Any kind of slant was verboten, and violated a reporter's ethics. Nobody wanted to be a shill. Today, all most newscasts are just opinion pieces. Just a bunch of self-proclaimed "analysts", who have given up bending the truth, for out right deception, and well, what it is ,lying.

Yeah, I miss those days also...today it is all about getting it over the next station, and as for sports wow, there seems no end to the sports coverage any more even during covid...

Correct, Chic. He reported the news only, not any chit chat or opinions offered. Usually, he was a real journalist who wrote his own news. I miss those days as well.

I agree. The USA would be so much better off if we had the likes of a Walter Cronkite, Douglas Edwards, Edward R Murrow, and others like them.
