Olivia Wilde's Breastfeeding Photo Causes a Stir

Like most normal men, I like to see womens' breasts. BUT lactating gals feeding their offspring is a bit over the top, how natural it may be, especially out in public.

Usually, the modest ones will cover up with a shawl, blanket etc. The blatant ones don't seem to give a darn.

I'm still amazed at not only the shock to natural behavior but how many people think they are special because of mother or parenthood. I don't give a crap you had a kid so please don't bother to put signs and balloons in your front yard. I don't care if you have a 'Baby On Board' I'm driving the way I normally do. There have been millions and millions of mothers & parents. These people are not special because their picture was posted with child.

This one really is a charmer, let's see how that kid turns out too. http://blog.chron.com/momhouston/20...-cover-of-3-year-old-breastfeeding/#3532101=0 I think these women you see in public media are attention whores, it's more about showing themselves off than being "motherly". If anything I would think they are offensive to real life moms who aren't wearing $1,000 outfits and having their photos airbrushed.

I'm all for mother's breast feeding their "babies", and I think it's just considerate and good manners to use a cover shawl when doing it anywhere in public. That is how all the mother's I've ever known did it. The real purpose of posing for that particular photo, in my opinion...narcissism.

Yep. Attention ho's.

"Look at me everybody!!! I'm so special!!!!"

People have no sense of decency anymore.

Might be placed in the same category as some women showing us a naked "baby bump"...

The photo seems to be a stupid woman, of whom I have never heard, trying to prove her figure hasn't been damaged by pregnancy, rather than encouraging breastfeeding!

STAND OVATION for this statement! Totally agree with you!

Oh go on, all of you. You all sound like old people.

It's actually a nice photo - unrealistic to be sure, but so are most medieval Madonna and child paintings.
There is nothing actually offensive about it.

Nothing offensive about the photo at all.

What is annoying, to me at least, is how these celebrities probably do this kind of thing as a publicity gimmick & nothing more.

It's not so much the breast feeding (which I do happen to think is in poor taste when done in public, especially in a restaurant) but the phoniness of the reason for doing so.

They're celebrities. They do all kinds of things in public that the rest of us only do in private.
Like snogging, which is also in poor taste when done in public.
Best advice? Don't look, don't notice, don't fuss.
A fire goes out when there is insufficient oxygen to keep it going.

Snogging? Could you tell me what this means if it is not too nasty for my delicate sensibilities?

Well, I suppose one could say that about almost anything, couldn't one?

But what fun would that be?

Why don't we all just ignore everything & not comment or make our opinions known about anything?

Then they could just shut down all these discussion forums, & we could twiddle our thumbs while quietly keeping our opinions to ourselves.

Or we could just stick to making banal, neutral comments that express neither pleasure nor displeasure with anything.

"Here's a picture of a celebrity woman breast feeding her baby in public"

"Yes, I see that."

"Yes, that is what she is doing."

"I agree that she is doing that"

"I concur & have no opinion about what she is doing."

While that would be nice & polite & not stir up any controversy or disagreement, it would be utterly boring.

I'd rather bitch & complain about stuff!!! ;)

Like annoying celebrity twits who bring their personal photographers & lighting specialists with them to photograph them breast feeding their little diaper poopers in public so they can suck up even more publicity.

I hate that crap!!!!

I had never heard of breast feeding except in history books. The day after my first child was born, the doctor came in with a nurse and my child and told me he was going to explain how to feed my baby. So he explained it was time to feed him, and they both stood there expecting I didn't know what.
I was fourteen, and dumber that chit. So they got more graphic. I stared at them, then I threw up all over them. Now that was a shock.
.:saywhat::noway::eek:mg:Sure am glad it wasn't a photo shoot.
