Once I saw her fingerprints on the bread, it was bye bye

Della, your guest was extremely rude by asking you to put your dog outside. Like you I practice cleanliness in my home. If someone has never been to my house I always warn them that I have pets by telling them you must love dogs.

I have 2 small dogs but at one point when I lived in a big house I had 4 small dogs and my son had 2 big dogs. I always warned people because I didn’t want someone over if they would be uncomfortable. The dogs never begged or were in the way. One guest once wanted the dogs put outside. I said no and never invited that person again.

I won’t eat at a buffet or a potluck unless I know the person and have been to their house to know their cleanliness standards. When I worked I only ate the potluck food that came from homes I had been to.

if anybody asked my DD to put her dogs outside, she would faint..lol, I'm laughing to myself because I can just imagine her reaction... to her it would be like asking to put your children out ( she has no kids )... she wouldn't believe what was being said to her...

That person would definitely be given the cold shoulder there's probably a great likelihood that they wouldn't be allowed to even stay on the first visit... much less invited again

I recall watching a CSI show years ago when the character, Sara Sidle explained why she didn't like dining out. Her reason was mostly due to the microscopic saliva that gets projected from humans mouths while speaking. So everyone from the cooks to the waitress to the person you are dining with who talk around your plate of food is leaving behind their germs. TV has really ruined my desire to dine out:D.

hmm, that comes under phobia to me.

Sure ,it may well be true but it is also therefore something that has happened to me forever and not caused me any issues.
Knowing it isnt going to stop me enjoying meals out with people

Reality is we don't live i n a sterile world - nor do we need to.

I like Tommy's post upthread - be sensible, have good personal hygiene without being obsessive and then get on with enjoying life, risk and all.

What turned me off to eating in most restaurants is working in restaurants. The vast majority of restaurant staff couldn't care less out you or your health. All they want is tips. Most don't even know that TIPS is an acronym, or what it means, which is "To Insure Prompt or Professional Service."

However, my son and I do still go to Denny's. That goes back to the beginning of my band days. I named the band sitting in Denny's at 5:00a. We always went to Denny's after a gig. I was talking to one of the waitresses a few months ago and she said she was glad we liked going there, as they don't have too many regulars after midnight.

I told her that if I went back to the first time I was ever in a Denny's that I could probably say I ate at least 25% of my meals in Denny's throughout my entire life. When I sold my band (all the gear and the contracts I had for bookings) my tax records showed we had played over 6,000 gigs. And after almost all of them, we went to Denny's for dinner at 4:00a or 5:00a. We had all of our band meetings there.

Denny's was my office... :coffee:
