One biggest change from early days

Meals.
How often did you eat out before the pandemic hit? Now, let's be honest... I'm thinking this pandemic has showed most of us that we depend on restaurants and fast food to feed us during the week.
I can't be the only one craving a HOT juicy cheesy gourmet hamburger and fries!

It's time for me to confess .. since the pandemic hit, we have been getting take-out food twice a week. Pre-pandemic, it was much less often.

You mean all my vinyl records are coming back in style? I stream, but still have a great vhs and dvd player and a lot of dvd's and vhs tapes.
I even have cassettes. hahaha! I DID throw out my 8 tracks though! i play my 45's and albums every day! Maybe just because it's old doesn't mean it's no good!
My husband kept everything from vinyl records tapes 8 tracks...LOL!...45's and albums....I don't know what till happen if we move....
prolly we are....It would be so much to take everything in our home....Hubby was in a singing group....up until we had our baby....
Do Wop was going out.....But we still have most of the albums and 45's.....I tried to look to see if there is a picture of his group...
Maybe he will be able to find it....

With the rapidity of climate change, civilization isn't going to be around long enough to dug up our trash.
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth"

There will always be survivors living in caves. Anywhere there is water. There will always be vegetation to eat. Global warming might reverse to an ice age. Who knows?

Yeah, My first husband was with "Buckwheat" I traveled with the band a few years. They had hits on the top ten, but those were the worst years of my life! I still have their albums but don't even want to remember those days.

Even though I think that climate change isn't being taken seriously enough and that we are not taking as extreme action as we should to mitigate it's effects, I'm not quite as pessimistic about the future of civilization. Life will be very different but I think that civilization will survive and really be pissed at us for doing so little.
With all the fires in the west and the acidic oceans and most people giving it mostly lip service and how quickly the ice caps are melting, only the cockroaches are going to survive. The oceans are now so acidic that a lot of the shell fish can't make shells. Sea birds are feeding their babies plastic trash. There are huge islands of trash in the oceans. The ocean is becoming so warm that a lot of species of fish are dying out and there isn't enough oxygen. One of these days it will be like Mars here. Our atmosphere will be gone. Then there will be no life. We've done that. We are doing that.

Sickens me to think about it!

In the area where I live the trees are dying because we are in the middle of a long term drought. The trees sacrifice their bottom limbs first. All it would take is lightening strikes and all of Oregon Washington and California are on fire. The river levels are way too low. Many cities get their water from the rivers. It leaves little for the fish. It's a huge issue, one that will not go away.

I don't envy you whatsoever. Heat-waves are one thing, but droughts are a whole other.

When my kids were young, I taught them to write little Thank You notes when they received gifts from outside the family or someone at a distance. Awhile back I received a Thank You from my grandson for a gift I'd sent to him. Via email. 6 years old, and already had his own email account!

Email, texting, messaging... compared to handwriting a letter and sending snail-mail.

Snail-mail letters when I was growing up were the best. Waiting in anticipation for a reply, and when it came, tearing open the envelope excitedly and finding a comfy place to sit down and read it.

The time it took to write, to send, to reply, there was real meaning behind it, unlike today's modern day format of electronic communication.
