Oregon in for a storm

our weather-man exaggerates but we are supposed to get 65-70 mph on our Northern Coast. Some will come as far South as we are in Coos Bay. I mean if it hits like he says it will;) So my sis and I are getting any, needed shopping done, and making sure things are tied down, lol! We've already had hard-rain and our streets are like rivers, more rain then I've seen in ages. My bathroom vent began to leak, and guess how I found out, yep, sat on a wet toity, lol! I actually used an umbrella one day, before the guy got here to fix it, lol;) Necessity is the mother of invention:rolleyes:

Anyone else having unusual weather, or weather stories??

I'm sorry, Denise, but I have to giggle at the mental image of you sitting on the throne with an umbrella.

It's drizzly, chilly, and unpleasant here in Florida today. We're supposed to get really cold weather on Wednesday (well, cold for US). Maybe I'll actually get to use the fireplace this year.....especially now that we have a new chimney.

Oh yeah jujube, you gotta have a chimney when you use a fireplace, :lofl:I just crack me up;) I was hoping someone would laugh over my "bright" idea, LOL!

Yeah, you guys down in Florida know about high winds:eek:nthego:

LOL at tying everything down, Denise.

In German, you'd say "Was ist los?" Literally, "what's loose" but used more like "What's up?" Anyway, the just-to-be-funny response is "Alles was nicht angebunden ist" meaning "Everything that's not tied down!"

And LOLOLOL at you sitting on the throne holding an umbrella over your head!

At any rate, I hope it's not as bad as predicted. Just a little breeze and some rain sounds much better.

Right on Georgia!! I think the term "whatever blows your skirt up" was made by someone living on the coast, lol!! I just sew ball-bearings into my hems, big ball-bearings, LOL!! By the way, my sister sure wondered why I came out to the front door and snagged an umbrella. I told her the "wet" news when I finished up, LOL!!

I hear you Lon, sure wish I could. I lived in Walnut Creek in my younger years, and I kept wondering when it was going to rain. I really missed Oregon. Then again, I do get tired of too much rain;)

I'm sending you one of these, Denise. Enjoy and keep dry. Pappy

LOL Pappy, my heads too big for that one too! I just grabbed for an umbrella and what I got was one of those huge ones with the Oregon Ducks on it:rain:

Lets see, something exotic:confused: Hey, it could perk up my apple-cider vinegar I take for medicinal purposes, how bout a shakin, not stirred, LOL!! Thanks Pappy;)

You got a picture of that didn't you? Because that's definitely a memory worth keeping. Those are the annoyances that make us laugh later on.

So far our weather is normal for this time of year. -7 centigrade = 19.4 F. Just lovely! I haven't gotten to the point where I am wearing an insulated vest and two jackets plus snow pants yet, but it's coming!

Burrrrrrrrrr Debby, snuggle in, eweeeeee, I hope you don't have to wear them wool underwares, itchy itchy, lol! I told my sis she had her chance to take my pic to get even with me for the many photos I've snapped of her over the years, LOL! Yep, I would be freezin my giblets off if we had 19 degrees! That extra hair though, you are prepared smart lady, lol;)

Being from Eugene and around all the rabid Ducks fans I wouldn't think it strange at all witnessing the scene with you on potty under your Duck umbrella.

You're right SOP, people would just assume I was one of those rabid fans, LOLLLLLLLL!! Hey, I never saw one like this, hope they were just fooling around, geesh!!

When is it supposed to hit for you,Denise? We are supposed to get it Thursday and Friday. Not feeling thrilled about it-usually I love a good storm but now I`m nervous about these oaks. Already told Wes we are going to be sleeping in one of the back bedrooms those nights-fewer oaks on that side and not close to the house!

Still laughing at the thought of you "sitting there" with an umbrella. Your sister sure did miss a photo op!

Didn`t know you lived in Walnut Creek at one time! When was that?

Yes, I'd be nervous too after what you just went through, I hope you guys get the rain you need but no damage this time;)

Yes, I live there only about a year due to my husbands biz. That was just after 93, He and I moved down there to a home he owned. We did sell it and move back to Oregon.

My wife whom has no interest at all in sports will come in on Saturday's to get an update of the score, this year I usually turned it over when they got too lopsided. I threatened to get an Ore State decal for my truck but she said she would refuse to ride, too afraid of being run off the Beltline during rush hour.

You mean the Beltline in Eugene? You did mention living there I think but I didn't realize you still did, cool! My brother lives up there as well.

Moved here in 2011 after selling our home in Utah. Needed to escape the snow and cold. Love the area, people and no sales tax. Hate the drivers.

Oregon born people are perfect drivers, it's the ones from other States, LOL! People love to blame California drivers. Hah, I'm an Oregonian, and there are at least two friends (born and raised here) I WILL NOT RIDE WITH< LOL!!

It can get loud, and high waves, winds. I would have to look it up to see what our worst storms have been like;) I know lots of people aren't careful because they think our coastal shores are pretty timid, but lots of people have been drowned out here over the years. I have always had a real healthy respect for water, especially the oceans;) I'm glad you got to see it. I'm going to show you a pic of our Shore Acres Light Festival happening now;) Just below Charleston if you look on a map, or Google Earth;) First is taken by a pro, second I took last Summer during the day;)
