Tomorrow I'm gonna design and build some planter boxes

Just piddling my time 'til spring

Well I don't say I don't like it but the first pick is kind of scary. Looks like it might be a predator looking to eat the bird, that might freak them out. Just adjust a little and it will be fine, they don't want to be flying into something scary to their eyes.

As to the Mrs. Gary'O, that is beautiful. Looks like crochet to me. I learned a little years ago and I can't remember how to do it. I have been looking into classes for crochet or knitting but have not found on yet. She has a great gift. I have a throw on my couch that was crocheted by my husbands Aunt. I have many I received after she passed, along with a couple of quilts. They are prized possesions to me. I hope her work is apprieciated by all who have received a gift that she made with her own hands. I have a couple of baby blankets I never used, they are so beautiful, they should be passed on for future generations. I know it is silly, they were made for my son and they will go to to his first birth child. I hope he will keep them safe and pass to his grandchildren and so on. They are worth as much as a fine piece of jewelry that should be valued and passed on.

HAH!

Now I gotta hang it outside

I hope her work is apprieciated by all
It is

This one is for our commercial fisherman son when he's on one of his boats

Most are for the homeless

Now, I told the honest truth, don't torture the little sweet birds, please. Just change it up a little at the front.

I know the young man that receives that blanket is going to love it. I would venture to guess that he will never take it out on the boat but give it a place of honor on his bed at home!

Well, his 'home' right now is our cabin
it's stuffed with her blankets

His other home will be a barge he's modifying
He's pretty tired of the moorage fees for three boats
They're not small
A couple are around 70 foot

What even you plant in there will probably hang over the edges.
Thinking herbs for folks in apartments
Maybe green onions
whatever

Am I seeing marks for drainage?
I'd considered allowing a slit or drilling holes
but leaving that open to whoever has an interest in whatever

I've found that undrilling holes is difficult

I like the plant box @Gary O' Are they window boxes? I used to live in a flat with wide outside window ledges which were perfect for window boxes, had I seen window boxes like yours, I would have bought them (y)

The bird box you don't like - I think it will look good when it is hanging in a tree, especially when the your visitors are sitting on the branch.

Love the blanket. You and your wife are a talented couple :)

Here's a thought about the planter boxes.
I have used the long plastic planter boxes to hang off my back porch railings.

If I were to use a wooden planter box,,probably would try to fit a plastic one inside of it.
Then add the soil & plants,, & watered them.
Now the planter box has become Heavy.???
It probably isn't going to hang off any railings due to the weight.

Ok, so will whoever buys them wants to leave them at ground level.
To get good drainage of box,,may set them on bricks?

Yeah,, I over think things. 🙃

Oh @Sliverfox you are right or, better still, four little legs :)

Hey @Gary O' have you thought of making a tiered set of plant boxes so they could be used separately or stackable with struts in-between so there is enough room for the plants to stand and grow?

I think your planters would be great outside but under cover, say on a patio or balcony with a shade over the top to protect them from too much rain or, in a garden room or conservatory.

Oh! maybe a smaller version for your lady to store her craft things!

See, now I am overthinking too - blame @Sliverfox :);)

Well, the first (really rough) prototype is now housing
about 20 or so kitchen utensils

I pretty much hate when my prototype is used
It's not a finished product, and a bit of a reflection on what I accept

but

it's her kitchen

box2.jpg

I suggested it could be a container for her knitting needles

'YES!.....YES!'

So, it looks like I'll be making one for those
....or, maybe 50 of those
She's got hundreds, maybe thousands of long needles

You're going to have to make one of these too then. :)

All the better to motivate you. There is always a needle close at hand in the event that you misbehave (but that probably never happens )
