Our version of retirement: Living a childhood dream

This is the first year that I know that Ravens have nested & have some young ones.
They are into the blue berries!
Our blue jays have been eyeballing the currants

Up at the cabin it was Jays, Robins, and Ravens
Good thing we had plenty of currants up there
They're wild currants
Zero taste
But, with enough sugar, makes a nice syrup or jam

Yeah, they're pretty maintenance free and zukes are so versatile in what you can do with them

I think most our plants are yellow crook neck this year
So envy you folks with plenty of water. Summer squash gets down to 49¢/lb during high season, $.99/lb most of the year. I prefer homegrown organic, but with virtually zero rain here between April and November, I can't justify the water. We have a few tomato plants, some container herbs and a few citrus trees (orange, lemon and key lime).

Enjoy your summer bounty!

Hubby went to our local Farmer's market this morning.
Asked him to get me a zucchini & maybe blueberries.

Not only did he buy strawberres & the things I asked for.
He came home with a bushel of peaches!

Didn't get the zucchini /blueberry quick bread made.

As I stepped out of the shower,, phone rang ,,our son letting me know they would be there in an hour!

With the company gone, I was able to finish the cedar gate project.

At first I was gonna take off the chain link gate

But my lady suggested just hanging the cedar gate on the existing one

Tried to argue that but couldn't

Next is a lower deck off what is now an enclosed porch

then........an arbor tween the shop and the house

Oh, and we've got more company coming tomorrow

(sigh)
