I grew up in a small mountain town in Colorado. Down the road from us was a smaller town that was at an altitude of over 8,000 feet. They had a reputation of getting tons of snow during the year. To facilitate that, during the earlier years, they had to use two-story outhouses, as the lower levels became snow covered. Here is a picture of a two-story outhouse, it is not from that town, but looks just like the ones I saw as a kid....I never had to use one! They frequently had snow accumulations over 100 inches, and still do at times...
