Pain Management - Mainstream and Natural Treatments

I have been in 7 car accidents with the first one at age 18. I have chronic back and neck pain. I use a chiropractor and acupuncture for pain relief.

I also have muscle relaxers for when I can barely walk but don’t need them regularly. I walk 2 miles daily, have a special neck pillow and a sleep number adjustable bed all of which helps a lot.

I think I’ll pass on Kratom.
That could be dangerous for me.
If you're using other A&D meds it would be prudent to stay away from supplements that haven't been thoroughly evaluated.

This thread is timely, I have a left lower back & hip discomfort, not really "in pain" per se, maybe a 1 or 2 on the pain scale. Probably too much stretching in Yoga, although I'd never mention it to my Yoga teacher or yoga friends. :sneaky: Anyway, I have a bottle of Kratom(Maeng Da) that I frankly had forgotten about until now. I took 2 capsules about 1/2 hour ago, will see if that has an effect.
From the Krave Maeng Da website:
It brings many of the pain relieving qualities from other kratom strains, but with a bigger stimulating boost. The energy boost doesn’t come with any jittery, unfocused side effects.

Maeng Da was created in the hot and humid temperatures of Indonesia as a high potency red kratom strain. Maeng Da blends pain relief and energy into one. In order to beat the heat in Indonesia, Maeng Da was made to provide more energy than Bali.

Maeng Da adds an energy kick that some red veins lack but keeps the pain relieving properties.

What does A & D meds mean?

A&D = anxiety & depression. Maybe should be A or D.
Thanks. I’ve been experimenting with holistic alternative methods since 17. In fact I got my diploma in health sciences and trust myself, especially when it comes to meds.
I’ve been growing my own meds since 1992

Oh wow. Talk about synchronizing.
I’ve been looking for a good protein for a friend of mine. Are they above or below $4 each? Why did you choose this brand.?

Thank you
5hr Energy Shots don't contain protein. The energy comes from the main ingredients vitamins B6 and B12, but also the amino acids tyrosine and phenylalanine, which IS found in protein foods like poultry, fish, nuts, leafy greens and legumes.

Most places sell the 5hr shots for around $3/ea; $4/ea for the Extra Strength ones. That's the ones I buy. My buddy charges me about $40 for a little case of 15, which is about what they cost at the Walmart here.

There's a cheaper version that has exactly the same ingredients (pictured below), but I don't know if the ingredients are the same quality. I kinda doubt it because they don't work quite as well for me as the 5hr. They go for only about $2/ea at places like Winco and Foods Co. The brand name is Stacker.

I’m not looking for caffeine. I’m looking for protein drinks as meal replacements. Something that will curb my appetite until mealtime. I’m trying to lose weight.
Amazon had what I was seeking so I placed an order. Thanks for helping me decide.
Too much caffeine gives me insomnia
Too much insomnia makes me crazy hyper

Those both have caffeine-free versions, but no, they aren't protein drinks.

They help manage my pain. They literally give me the energy to work through it. They keep me off the couch, keep me moving, make me want to do busy work, and for a good 3 to 5 hours every day, that takes my mind off my pain.

They must work or they wouldn’t be so popular. Many of my husband co workers drank these things and swore by them.

I have 1 to 2 coffees in the morning and if I have any more than that, I can’t sleep.

It’s good that they work for you. It’s great when you find stuff that actually does what it claims to.

I’m looking for gluten free protein shakes to have after my coffee. I don’t want my blood sugar crashing while dieting. If I forget to take my vitamins, I’ll at last have them via these shakes.

Few years back I contracted PN [peripheral neuropathy] the disease EC has now just in my lower legs - I won't go into history etc - but it became over time acutely painful so much so that I would wake at 2 am and go and stand in a cold shower for at least 30 mins to try to relive it - did for a few minutes but not enough.

I told the doc I was contemplating suicide next so he put me on a schedule 10 drug I think - opiate - wow did I love that one. But eventually after a couple of months he said we can't continue legally I must find something else. And bless his cotton socks he did - Lyrica - used for epilepsy amongst other things but did the trick for me. It will never cure the PN but I have no pain? simple
