Patient Sues Medical Clinic For Failing To Provide Birth Control

We have pharmacists here who can refuse to sell the 'morning after' pill; but they have to direct customers to an alternative place of purchase.
i have never known a doctor's practise refuse birth control; and there are also Family Planning clinics....all free.

I believe if the have moral objections to dispensing legal birth control products the should find other means of earning a living.

When I got married [1970] my doctor would not prescribe the pill. I had to find a family planning clinic and it took awhile and the filling in of all sorts of forms and a stern discussion first. How times change.

True, Oakapple.
i remember when the pill first came out; doctors could only issue it on a private prescription. Family planning clinics could give it out for free; after the lecture!
then it went free on NHS...the reasoning was that it saved NHS lots of money on unwanted pregnancies...and it isn't very expensive anyway.
sorry; rambling; I still think this clinic should offer a nearby alternative; I find it odd that all doctors and/all nurses agree..

More birth control equals less people. Hopefully.

Sometimes you have to leave part of who you are at the door and do your job when you are at work.

ClassicRocker, your topic about the wedding planner reminded me of this. Lady wants birth control, due to clinic doctor's morals patients are refused as natural planning is the only way. And the Canadian government says it is within the law.

Thoughts please.

It's within the law, end of story.

I didn't view the video, but you're saying someone is suing a doctor for not providing birth control and she got pregnant?? We are on candid camera here right?

Completely agree.

This can't be truly what you guys think, not when there are plenty of doctors out there they can get birth control from? Even with my cheapo depot insurance I have a choice of many doctors. I believe in people's right to believe in God, the bible, or any other religion. Or just have morals. They also have a right to want to save lives, and not discard what they believe to be a life, or interrupting what they believe God's will is about populating the Earth, or whatever.

Is it wrong if a grocery store owner won't sell non-organic foods, or processed to people? He believes other ways of producing food is wrong, so I can't buy a box instant potatoes there.

Right on, people who want birth control can get it, not to mention abortions being a dime a dozen. So what's up with suing the "one" doctor in the city that objected to giving out birth control, what a crock.

The clinic afterward did post a sign referencing another clinic. Denise, nope we are not on Candid Camera here :D These things do happen all too often.

You are right Rose, with the things that are happening, and have happened, this shouldn't surprise me. It just seems like whenever a "new right" is granted to someone, another person's is taken away. I can't help but think back and remember, there was a time when if a person didn't want to get pregnant, they'd keep their legs together. Now the responsibility of a pregnancy is often put on someone besides the people that had the sex.

Many years ago, I had a doctor whose religion prevented him from prescribing birth control. He said so up front, and he also told me I could take my paperwork over to the office of his colleague across the hall and they'd give me a prescription. I didn't see a problem with that. Still don't.
