Some People will fight in an empty room IMO.. including this forum.... but on the nextdoorapp I've just read this...paraphrasing..because it was long.

Person 1.. I've got a 6 month old pug that needs rehoming because I don't have time or patience for it and it needs training and I've got a baby .. .. who would like to give it a home ?

person 2).. 6 months old and you haven't trained it ?.. why did you even get a dog ?

Person 3.. None of your business why she hasn't trained it..

Person 1 )... how dare you.. get lost I'm not answering your questions but just so you know we have family problems..

Person 2.. ).. Person 3 what has it got to do with you, dogs can't speak so we speak for them

Person 3).. now you're attacking me cuz I'm Dyslexic...

Person 1 ).. wtf.. this ain't about you...

...and so it went on with about a dozen other joining in each side..

I used to be on a site, don't remember its name, that was mainly recipes and "household" hints, etc. And I told Huzz, "One thing about that site, there are never any fights; what is there to fight about over recipes and cleaning hints?!" Welp, not too long after I said that, a fight broke out on the site over something as you'd-think-was-non-contentious as how to peel potatoes. So as @hollydolly put it so well, "Some people will fight in an empty room."

I have been invited to nextdoor, i rejected. I don't do the social media. I used to do ICQ. years ago i used to virtual chat rooms.

it's actually a handy app.. you get to know what's occurring in the neighbourhood which you might otherwise not know. For example if there's burglaries in the area.. or like today someone posted they'd spotted a man trying the handles of all the cars, and she posted it within 5 minutes of seeing the guy, so people were able to check their cars, and also watch out for the potential thief.. equally lost animals or items are found quickly.. local services are advertised.. . I don't use it for chat, same as I don't use FB but nextdoorapp is a handy app to have

Our Nextdoor app. Is frustrating at times. A person can explain something and then the stupid questions begin. Doesn’t anyone read the original message? How much, where are you, you should include your phone number and name, where are you located, etc.
I have noticed a lot of that when people are selling stuff.. but I don't buy and sell on there so I've not experienced it personally..

What IS interesting tho' is that you can weed out the bad from the good often-times.. For example.. having lived here for over 40 years I know the names of the local 'bad' families in the nearby small market town.. and so when I see them advertising their services.. like gardening or painting and decorating.. I know not to touch them..unless I want my house burgled.. .. not something you would know by taking someone out of the yellow pages per se..

must be some kind of different theory on who to notify when an apparent crime is being committed.. here we dont post that we saw someone trying door handles we call the police, that is their job. not many burglaries here, not many shootings, a few yes. mostly civil disturbance, spousal abuse.. speeding, dui, some drugs(hard to get away from that) accidents.

There's very little chance that the London Met Police will get out of bed for a car crime or even a house burglary...

There are cameras everywhere these days and, very often a wrong-doer will be recognised. The police are useless, most of the time we have to do their job for them.

Absolutely true... the Police are simply a waste of tax payers money in this country.. well overdue for a Massive shake up..

The police don’t come until something has actually happened. If the neighbours spot something, they watch for the bad guys or make certain that their own house and car doors are locked. If someone knows an item, usually a bike, has been stolen then people watch for it.

It's everywhere on the 'net. Why o' why does each and every little item allow "comments"? That's like asking a room full of junkies if the want more needles... Every Youtube video gets comments, some made with genuine thought, others just ugliness for the sake of ugliness.
Facebook? Every article form every publication allows comments, here is how it usually goes:

The internet is chocked full of very jealous people.. and they're response is always Abuse...

I stay away from all social media platforms except SF. I have no desire to see or deal with the nasty remarks and infighting. Even posting on SF can get touchy when people are quick to judge and attack your point of view and defend theirs. Especially the alleged "non"-political, religious, and health discussions. There are times I should've just clicked away instead of commenting.

well sheesh, betcha didnt realize that all the text above is how america was formed....what amazes most of us is why it is still working!!!

The police here, even come to our apartment building when one person calls to complain about the next apartment's television being too loud. And one lady reported another for stealing an artificial Christmas tree from their puzzle room and the woman reported didn't steal it since it was her tree to begin with. The police came here twice about that one. I avoid those people.

I’m on Nextdoor for my neighborhood, and also the Facebook group for same.

I check them both out once a day, just a quick glance at the subjects to see if there’s anything I’m interested in or that I want to pay attention to. Occasionally I’ll read comments if there are a bunch of them on a particular topic, but I’ll read for amusement purposes only 😂 because mostly they’re ridiculous.

Less often I’ll post. I did a couple weeks back because there was a building going up on the commercial section of my neighborhood and I couldn’t for the life of me find out what it was. I found out it was a Whataburger, and I was disappointed, I hoped it was something other than food or yet another mattress store lol.

But here’s the thing. That was two weeks ago, and I got my answer within the first two responses. Yet all this time later and the tread is STILL being responded to! Folks’ opinions about whataburger, reviews about the menu, what else they wanted to see instead, rude comments about why the previous person liked the burgers, where the other whataburger is…and on and on. 🤦🏼‍♀️
