People cutting in line... what would you do?

However I can see why you would choose the path of least resistance. Not usually a big deal...
Au contraire. Everyone seems to be taking the easy route by turning a blind eye, holding their tongue and shoving fingers in their ears in an attempt to live in a polite society by ignoring what is taking place around them. What has this accomplished?

Or assessing the situation and deciding for themselves what course of action to take.
Not every situation needs to be a confrontation.

One thing you could have done is "canceled" them by taking a video of them, perhaps add a bit of commentary, and then posting the video on YouTube. You could give them the option of going to the back of the line or having the video posted. Of course, that might have led to a confrontation, so you would have had to deal with that. On the other hand, you wouldn't have felt taken advantage of.

Turning a blind eye has allowed rudeness and the "i am more important" attitude to flourish .......

I pick my battles but am not shy of speaking up....
also if more of a witness to this i have congratulated those who did speak up ..... in earshot of the person to make sure they know others find them obnoxious too...

You are right of course, it accomplishes nothing, except maybe avoidance of unpleasantness.

As @Jeni said its just a matter of choosing your battles.

Quotes

"There was a woman in front of me. Another woman walked right out of the parking garage and greeted her like an old friend."

"Then, ANOTHER woman they knew walked from the parking garage to say hello and they welcomed her into the line."

How lucky for those women to walk out of the parking garage to find their friend right away in a line that was 1/2 mile long.

she was probably sent ahead to get in line and keep a space for them

That is what I was thinking. So if that is what took place time wise waiting in line how would that be any different than the 3 arriving at the same time to be in line ahead of the Op?

As a way to do something that can take time I don't think it unusual for that kind of thing to take place. IMO it comes down to the women could have apologized but offered an explanation.

As others have said pick your battles or don't sweat the small stuff.

Rarely do I experience people cutting in line in front of me. When I do, I don't care. If I have a full cart and someone has only a few items, and we are at the back or front of the line, I let them cut in front of me. It doesn't effect anyone else for us to swap places.

What about if you're in traffic, you've been inching forward in a huge traffic jam for hours, you;re sore, tired and probably busting for the toilet.. then along comes car after car on the outside and as they get to where you are stopped, they start pushing in front of you in line ... do you think , OK?.. I've been sitting here inching along this road for hours for the good of my health... I'm happy to let these queue jumpers in front of me... ?

In one minute Bruce Lee kicked Shan Shu exactly 44 times. I timed it on my Seiko.

When cutting ahead in line then assaulting innocent people eventually catches up to the sociopaths in our society.

Lakeesha and Daquan should have received 7 to 10 years in supermax SHU without the possibility of early release, wearing ankle bracelets for the entire 5 years of weekly supervised parole, court ordered uninterrupted full time employment, weekly drug testing to meet parole conditions, financial restitution to the crime victim and 10,000 hours community service picking up toxic waste in a superfund dumpsite.
